My question isn´t related to any of your classes, but I´m freaking
out trying to analyse a song and really could use your help:
It´s Mingus´s Goodbye Porkpie Hat
The final turnaround is a B7 chord leading to the 1st chord: a F7.
Why does it work so well??? Is it analyzable?? (does this word exist??)
I did some research and found out there is something called
dominant by tri-tone pattern (according to Mr Tom Hojnacki, from Berklee).
I suppose it has something to do with a dominant chord leading to another chord one tritone below (Ex, a B7 going smoothly to a F7. To me, these chords should sound similar, once they have the same tritone, but listening, it just sounds like 2 chords inexplicably connected.
