Little Feet are the most under appreciated and under recognized band in the US. Here's the story I've heard. Lowell George wrote Willin' when he was playing in Frank Zappa's band. He played the song for Frank and Frank said it wasn't the type of song that band played. So he fired him and set him up with a recording contract to form a band to play the song. And Little Feat was born. Bill Payne is a keyboard extraordinaire! Great talent in the band back then. They should be in the RRHOF!

Little Feat was known as your favorite bands' favorite band....their influence is still felt today. Amazing group of musicians.

Lowell George was a HUGE talent, unfortunately he died of a cocaine induced heart attack in 1979. The band mixed R&B, country, rock, and jazz genres and easily garnered a unique sound of thier own.... Lowell George's vocal sound, songwriting abilities, and slide-guitar play were simply brilliant! The band reformed in 1987 with Craig Fuller (Pure Prarie League) as the new lead singer. Some must-listens: Time Loves A Hero, Rocket In My Pocket, Missing You, Dixie Chicken, and Fat Man in the Bathtub are just a few.

Tucson is, of course, in Arizona. Tucumcari is, I think, in New Mexico, and I'm pretty sure Tahachapi and Tonopah are in California. Saw Little Feat, with Lowell George in 1978, way up in New Hampshire, still one of the Top 5 concerts, of the over 500 I have seen. Seen Feat about ten more times over the years, just amazing. "Willin' " was THE song that caused Lowell to form Little Feat, after Frank Zappa kicked him out of The Mothers Of Invention. A very deep rabbit hole. "Spanish Moon", "Dixie Chicken", "Fat Man In The Bathtub", "Old Folks Boogie", "Tripe Faced Boogie", "Let It Roll" and "Feats Don't Fail Me Now". Rock On!!!

1971....Playing this song on the tape deck. Drive down to Ensenada Mexico in my 57 Chevy Nomad with three friends with some Whites and Ripple. Buy some cool stuff from local venders, meet with Raul and his friend.... come home with 10 pounds of Acapulco Gold Buds hidden in the back... everybody was happy.

Linda Ronstadt does a cover of this. There is a great video of her doing this in concert in Atlanta in the seventies. It’s so good! She talks about Lowell George. Interesting story! ☮️💙😎

One of my all time favorite songs. Mostly because it was in the book of guitar tabs my dad had back when he was in his 20s and he really loved playing for a 5yo but also because Little Feat just sang the hell out of it.

BTW... they are not a Country Band, more of a Southern Rock/Classic Rock/Folk Rock/Country Rock band...They do it all like many groups like them from that era.

I love Little Feat and enjoyed your reactions. With Lowell George in the '70s Little Feat didn't fall into any one category. They play blues, rock, R&B, funk, acoustic and I recommend the Live "Waiting For Columbus" give "Oh Atlanta" +my fave "Mercenary Territory". Also a great upbeat cover of "Willin" by Seatrain will shake you up and I heard it in 1971, 2-3 b4 I heard the original by the Feat. Go figure.

I saw these guys play just before Lowell passed, AND I was a truck driver. (After the Marine Corps) “Weed, Whites-amphetamines-and Wine.” I’m still willin! You GOTTA check out Rock and Roll Doctor, live at the Rainbow Room. (I wouldn’t steer you wrong) You won’t think they’re “country” anymore! (Well, maybe a 16th country) 😂🫡❤️

Little Feat's earlier music leaned a little more on country. This is their most country sounding song. Yeah Lowell's voice drifted off key at one point. He was usually on.

Yes, Lowell George was a serious talent...and died way too young! While I love Little Feat's version with Lowell at the helm I still think that Linda Ronstadt's cover is the best. Check it out.
