Honestly yeah. I thought it was kinda stupid to kill him before they could question him, but that guy probably would've killed multiple innocent people before he surrendered (didn't seem like the sharpest tool in the shed). Clerk came in clutch.

This episode was a real mind game. On one hand, I believe the girl fully participated in those robberies of her own free will. She was kidnapped and raped, yes, but then she turned. On the other hand, I also believe she had an abusive childhood - that mother seems pretty awful! She was a prime target for this man, and he abused her until she turned. So that means she doesn’t deserve the full penalty of the x4 Murder 2 convictions. So I think that Jack and Claire made the right choice not to argue against the appeal for leniency in the end.
@yoursafeplace8476 Жыл бұрын
it's called stockholm syndrome, eventually your will is broken and you do what you gotta do to survive, so to be honest she doesn't need to go to jail she needs a long stay at a psych ward.

@Your Safe Place I don't think this was Stolkholms since she was happy the guy died. I do think she was just doing what she did to keep herself safe. Your brain can easily turn off your morals when it's in survival mode. So ultimately I do agree psych ward, not prison. Prison will make her a real criminal.

the way she was holding the gun doesn't make her seem very much like a willing participant. it almost looked like she was holding it defensively, keeping her arms close to her chest to protect herself. if that was before helen was killed, it would make sense that after witnessing the other hostage's murder she would dissociate and become compliant purely out of self-preservation. i never saw any signs of any intent to kill, nor any proof she pulled the trigger on anyone.

Wait wouldn't the clerk get arrested or something for gunning down the man while a hostage situation was happening? Sure he did the right thing but there was risk of what if the bullet penetrated the man all the way and entered the old woman?
@hedgeman2 жыл бұрын
Self-defense. He was protecting the life of the woman. Edit: In New York, someone is able to use the same type of force to defend another as they would be able to defend themselves. It’s the essentially the same principle legally, but it is most accurately referred to as defense of other. Or as someone else pointed out, you could just say justifiable homicide.
@fchow71322 жыл бұрын
@@hedgeman by definition that's not self defense but it's justifiable homicide as they reasonably believed they were protecting someone's life. I would assume it would be investigated in real life (pretty obvious conclusion here) but it would be found to be a blameless homicide with no charges against the clerk.
@somestrangecircus55052 жыл бұрын
This situation meets the legal definition of justifiable homicide in New York, and the clerk handily had a pair of detectives there to witness that, so the clerk shouldn't be charged here.
