The most complete college running back I ever had the privilege to watch. 8,500 career rushing yards in the NFL even after that gruesome knee injury- back before people really were returning from blown out knees like that. There's virtually no reason to not respect this guy.

@@vamoneygroup Wrong. He was supposed to start ahead of McGahee in 2002 after Portis went to the NFL, but he got injured in spring practice. In 2001 Portis was the undisputed starter and Gore was a true freshman and the backup. I saw a medical report bout repairing the ligaments in torn up knees. Old way was too sew the ligament back together, but this did not take into account some scarring issue or I cant remember, but it was not a good method. Then new way I hear is to use some part of the hamstring. I hear p. manning got controversial stem cells in Europe for his neck. Are stem cells an answer for this devastating knee injury? any help is appreciated.

Shockley and P Buch were gone. 02 was not the same team as 01 at all. 01 was way more focused and driven. 02 got complacent at times, but was still loaded with talent all over. The biggest difference from 01 to 02 was the line play. After 01 we lost Bryant Mckinnie and Dorsey actually got hit. 01 was way better than 02, but 02 was Damn good too. Boy do I miss those days!

Vinson Wingo The 2000 team may have been even better than the 2001 team but they lost really early in the season in Ken Dorsey's 1st road game, but ended up beating the #2 and #3 teams in the country, had something like 32 future draft picks including a bunch of future 1st round picks on the bench. The 2001 team was insane and a lot of people argue it is the best college football team ever. I got to see them at every home game that year and outside of the FSU game and the Boston College game - they were in fast forward while the other teams were in reverse. They blew everyone out and on defense they were smothering. Ed Reed (IMO better than Taylor RIP) had something like 10 ints that year and Jonathan Vilma and DJ Williams were everywhere.

@BigSicily954 Willis McGahee was the starter in 2002 and in that one season he compiled better stats by far than Gore. They both played a full season, so I am not comparing his one season to Gore's injury plagued career. Let's get back to the original point I made and that is McGahee was better than Gore at the U. This is undisputable when you look at the stats. I agree that in the NFL Gore has been the more productive back, I don't deny that. All I'm sayin is McGahee was better at the U.
