Good day, Alex. It's me your friend, Mike Kinney here in the Bay Area. After seeing the glyphs of the rakes, the site probably is about 40,000 years old. As for the huge boulder with the numerous cupules they indicate several things to me: 1. It make be a fertility rock, 2. it could be a marker representing where the timelines of the past and present merge together, if the conditions are right, or 3. the cupules may act as a map recording of the journey from the star constellation that the Ancient Ones made from to settle on the surface world of the Earth.

Visited this Rodman Mountain site for the first time around 30 years ago with my newlywed wife from Barstow. The spirits were with us when she narrowly avoided stepping on a coiled diamond back rattlesnake in the middle of the wash while she was walking and looking up. It slowly stretched out to over 5 feet, to show us how big it was. Must have been molting because it moved very slow. Awesome experience and beautiful site!

I went to Laughlin Nevada a few weeks ago and had the opportunity to go to the Grapevine Canyon petroglyph site. When my wife and I got to the trailhead there were several young and older ladies dressed up in traditional Mohave Indian dresses. So we followed them to the petroglyph site and at the site was an elder Mohave Indian man explaining the meaning of all the glyphs. Later I found out the meeting was for one of the US senators who was there for the state of Nevada as they were trying to explain the importance and to have them officially protected. As a side note there happens to be three Jimson weed plants growing in the wash below the glyphs and wondered to myself if that plant had a role on that site.

It almost looks like a calendar at 7:49 of the video. The dots could be in correspondence with the lunar cycle. There appear to be 29 by my count. Perhaps they were counting the number of days there would be good light at night until the next new moon?
@JoseluisdeHOU3 жыл бұрын
Anthropologist Dr. William Breen Murray conducted a study at Presa de la Mula Nuevo Leon around similar “comb” shaped petroglyphs that, in his opinion, captured the synodic lunar movements… Some local Archeologists argued that there was not enough evidence and attributed these to a more religious purpose calling them “water drops” or or “water tears”… Intriguing!

Wasn't that rock drawing with a bunch of lines a potential moon calendar? I know it has more than 30 lines but if you read from right to left the 30th line is short and you have dotted lines going towards the short line. But idk that is just my take.
@lorrainecampbell64483 жыл бұрын
It seems like this might have been a weigh station of sorts. There weren't many signs of established residence markers other than the one small set of mortars. I wonder if the petroglyphs were a form of communication among tribe members en route to more permanent destinations.

11:00 is it possible these could be bullet holes from vandals?
@storiesbyalex2 жыл бұрын
Hello pickenit. I have encountered many a bullet holes around petroglyphs and they have a unique signature. However, it is possible that a shotgun blast onto a degraded boulder could produce similiar markings. Cupules are often smooth from rubbing/grinding, but then again a severely degraded boulder will loose this feature. So, sometimes based upon other factors at a site, it is a judgement call........................alex
@gratefuldoge85983 жыл бұрын
I have been finding petroglyphs and cupules on the Berkeley Mystery walls, after moving some stones and digging I found shards and points, there are even bone fragments right near the surface. The claim that the walls were made by recent settlers, colonizers, miners and pioneers is trash. The rock walls span almost the entirety of California and are clearly thousands of years old.

interesting and sad. It is sad the well went dry. Not far from where I live in (so ca) there is a wall, blocks long, built without concrete, several feet thick and chest high along side a road. It is unknown who built it or when. I am thinking right around the time missionaries lured out the native people from the mountains and into the flat lands to work on missions and such.
