Will...no sir. I own property in Belize and chose Belize over Jamaica and Costa Rica, but Jamaica is tremendously easier to reach than Belize. Most major US cities have direct flights to Jamaica versus a half dozen to Belize. Flights to Jamaica are typically much cheaper. That being said, the remoteness of Belize is why it is a jewel. Just clarify that the monthly tourist tax for 1 year is $100 US which is $200 Belize. How come they don't require proof of income to continue staying in the country every month??

Belize has one huge advantage: You can get close to one of their more or less traditional German speaking Mennonite communities, where you can easily find many, many people you can trust. Finding good neighbors and people you can trust most probably will be a major problem in many countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.
