Belize is nice although Belize City (which is significantly more influential than Belmopan) and some other parts of the country have a high criminality rate. I would also consider property investments high-risk at the moment as Guatemala has a claim over Belize and it's unpredictable what actions they might take militarily in the future. Belize's economy is also dominated by Chinese and Indian business people and financial crime including corruption is not uncommon. Owning property and living in Belize will only further grow the gap between the poor locals and we they will end up in a situation where, just like the Chinese shops there, they can only be in contact through small bulletproof windows. Just providing a different perspective here - although I'd be grateful for other more positive views.

Is there a way to be matched to a company that can handle all the required steps? My wife and I are going SOMEWHERE, but don’t want to wander thre through the process. I lived in Asia and Germany [two tours] for a total of more than eight years. I understand life will change wherever we go, but that we can adapt to the country. We’re looking at Costa Rica, but Belize may be acceptable. If we look at six people’s videos, we get six opinions but no updated facts.

Can you simply make a spreadsheet or chart listing all your data for both? These videos all tend to be verbal so it goes in one ear, out the other.

BELIZE IS NOT AN INEXPENSIVE COUNTRY TO LIVE IN ANYMORE . Prices have become expensive due to pure greed . More U.S. Citizens living in Belize is nice but the locals are charging much more because they know U.S. Citizens have more money to live on . This greed for money has caused the poor in belize to live in even worst poverty conditions. 😢😢😢

The fact of a much smaller congested tourist population in Belize compared to Mexico must have a huge appeal to many potential tourists and expats! But no one is facing the unavoidable explosion in Mexico because the cartels are taking over the country and are the origin of do much illegal migration into the US. On the other hand the limited comfort level in Belize is a Con because of lack of urban infrastructure familiar to people from Canada and the United States.

How do Belize City and Placencia fit into the framework of the video subjects?? Why did you specifically select Tulum for comparison? What are transportation links to Western Canada?

Excellent video. In Mexico what good are the ownership restrictions when the whole country is gradually being taken over by the drug cartels, and we all know what that means!
