FAUX LOC Tips 1. Crotchet the hair threw/under the base. This way it won't slip out 2. You should now have two strands of added hair; 1 strand on each side of your natural braid. 3.Hold one section of the added hair along your plait. Then, take the other half and wrap 2-3times at the base and proceed downwards. °Make sure you place it 3/4 each wrap to avoid gaps but if you want it to be messy that's fine. 4.With what is left of the hair against the plait and the section you used to wrap down to form the loc °Hold that hair together and wrap upwards until you are out of hair. You don't have to wrap up in any particular manner. 5. You should now have a secure loc AND you don't have to worry about unraveling at the base or ends [OPTIONAL 6.] Dip Hair in hot water. Side note: If you use pre-formed Locs just pull the loop through and pull your plait through the loop and proceed the same way. I hope this information is helpful. This is what aided me when I did Faux locs the first time earlier this year. Also, maybe the brassy under tones of this sandy Blonde/brown esk shade is what is unnerving about the color and style?? In addition larger sections, make a difference in perception as its like WHAM. I think you'd like Smedium (Small medium) locs better. Not as time consuming, and you get a fuller look. #window and doors parted sections

I used to do this except #1. When I used to do faux locs I never needed to crochet it through the base, BUT in order to do this you need to wrap it tightly around the rest of the twist. They never fell out, because the tension causes them to wrap tighter if you pull from the ends. To take them out all I needed is to hold my twist and pull the loc from the base. They took a long time to put in but the take down was so easy!!

I think you need a different shade of blonde and smaller sections. I've done faux locs multiple times and that has helped me. Yes it takes more time but the results are better. Also you may want to consider taking a small piece of extension and braiding into your hair before you wrap.

Nope. Its thick. You need to do little twists. The sections are super d duper big.cut each section in 4 and do the twists on each one it will look fuller and better. Also mix the hair. Black and blond hair and it will be more complementary. It wont look so odd with a mix.
