A norther great video! Your paper clip coal tool is a real great idea! I may steal that for The Val Valley. As our primary commodity is coal.

There is nothing "diamond in the rough" about these operational videos! Each one is a finely cut and polished gem! I know they take a great deal of time preparing, shooting and editing. Thanks for sharing them!

Hi again! I did notice in general that all your company buildings hardly ever do have a part of themselves obviously being reserved for staff and administration, whereas I think in real life such offices would be present in these buildings. Great performance once again.
@Vigment134 жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed the video. And company offices are always around, just maybe not obvious; one has to use their imagination as to what the interiors of the buildings hold. Perhaps that's part of the magic of model railroading.

The parts of the road I saw are very nice. I especially like the realistic scale speeds you use and the slow way the engine gains speed after setting off and coupling up cars. Very fine...

Glad you enjoyed the Willow Creek. Realistic speeds definitely extend the operations and make things much more enjoyable. Thanks for the feedback!

the line you modeled still uses cabooses?
@Vigment134 жыл бұрын
The Willow Creek is modeled in the early 1950s. Cabooses were used on freight trains throughout the US until the 1980s. So cabooses are used on all freight trains on my layout. Besides, they look super and provide additional operating interests on model railroads. Thanks for your question!

@Vigment136 жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed the video. The Willow Creek is a 411 sq foot layout. Main layout is 20'x20' walk-in style, with a 1'x11' staging yard extension in an adjacent room. You can see the track plan on the railroad's web site.

Do you ever run steam locomotives on your railroad?
@Vigment137 жыл бұрын
Steam locos? Yes, once in a while. The railroad owns a couple of Mikados and one Mountain config steam loco. I'd actually like to get a couple of smaller configurations to run. A 2-8-2 or 4-8-2 is a bit larger than I'd like to see, especially during op sessions. We'll see...
@kevinfinkel55367 жыл бұрын
Vigment13 For a small layout like yours, I'd limit the size to a 3 axle driver. Something like a 2-6-0 or even a Class B Shay.
@Vigment137 жыл бұрын
That's exactly what I have in mind. Not sure a Shay fits the scheme but that would be a beautiful engine to run on the layout. I'll have to look into it. Thanks for the suggestion.

There's something about the name "Bucky's Crossing" that sticks in your head.
@Vigment134 жыл бұрын
Ha. That's not the first time I've received that comment. As the layout's history goes, the river port was established in 1864 by Bucky Stewart as a ferry crossing for wagons. Being an innovative and respected business man, the town that he helped to establish was named in his honor. Hence, Bucky's Crossing. Hope the name sticks with pleasant memories!
