I find it interesting that so many people say the song is a work of art but they hate the video. I personally love the video. It’s so different to a lot of the norm in pop. Plus, the lyrics aren’t exactly joyful as they almost seem to represent a loss and maybe trying to let go of a love that isn’t real or no longer exists. Plus, due to his own loss of his brother, I think a more somber approach perfectly fits. I also find it very interesting that it focuses quite a lot on what appears to be a wedding ring which is in quite high contrast when he falls in the mud. A true piece of art indeed!
