Thank-you. You were the only person who could answer my questions. I was pulling the transfer case out, and the main shaft slid back too far causing those needle bearings to fall into the transmission. Thanks for the help and the great tips.

I'm preparing to restore my Dad's 2A and have been watching lots of Willy's videos! I recently came across yours and enjoying them so far. I really like the visual on how the trans works. Thanks for the extra detail there!

Hi Chris, thanks for watching! I'm sure you'll find it fun to see how these Jeeps were built back in the day, quite a bit different than newer vehicles.

I think you did a damn good job. Me and my dad rebuilt that same transmission and it took us two weeks. Cleaning really is a lot of the process

Back in the 40s things were so simple and things lasted they used these transmissions in 6 and 8 cylinder I think solid gear set

Wonderful video! I truly appreciate the clear explanations and your expertise. I have a question that's been bugging me. When I'm in 3rd gear, everything seems smooth until I let off the gas, and then there's this metallic, clunking sound. This issue doesn't appear in any other gears. I'm suspecting it might be the synchronizer rings. Would you agree or could there be another issue? Thanks in advance!

Another great video, the visualization of the transmission was great. I am just about to do a Novak rebuild for my CJ7 T5 and Dana 300, I hope they are as "enjoyable" as yours lol.. just waiting for the parts to arrive. looking forward to the transfer case video. awesome work sir!

Thanks Matt, I appreciate the support! It's always interesting to see the inner workings, I'm sure you'll have fun tearing them apart. Make sure you don't forget any snap rings like I almost did 🤭😅

How long would you say it took to pull it apart, clean everything and put it back together? For both the transmission and the transfer case. I've been meaning to rebuild mine forever but I just don't have the time. I know a good shop but they charge by the hour

Instead of lifting the cluster gear can you just turn the case upside down and let it fall into place?

what about the 3 pawls and the 'hair clip' spring that goes in the front of the syncro cluster to push the pawls outwards ??
@thelarsongarage2 жыл бұрын
I put a new synchro unit in and I believe it was a complete unit that already had the pawls and springs installed

I watched this and the t case video and I am wondering is there a seal between the transmission and transfer case or can the fluid move between the two?
@thelarsongarage2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! The oil can move between the two, I think based upon the oil levels it would only happen on steep climbs or descents. I thought I saw somewhere there is the ability to add a seal between the two but I'm not sure what's involved with that.

What if speed 3 has a problem, can you explain right
@battlejack18632 жыл бұрын
You no longer need that oil collector it was eliminated in the T90 in the later model jeeps

You need to slow down you did okay but you need to go slower and instead of hurrying through and doing it where you was hurrying and said you already did it you got to go slow and so you can see that cuz some of us are trying to watch this and learn not listen to what you already did
@leonmeuchael545310 ай бұрын
You damn KZbinrs go too fast and don't go slow enough to explain how it actually works you hurry and then you tell it it's already done what the hell
