You can also undo the top oil filter hose and back pump the oil until it comes out of the oil gauge tube. Once then, reconnect the oil guage tube.

When the oil pump is removed, will there be much oil that will spill from the block?

Thanks for a good quality video. So the Melling M53A is for the chain driven camshaft, and the M53 for the gear driven shaft? It would've been nice to see the actual new pump install, especially the gasket and an oil-filled pump. Any gasket sealer used? It's also interesting how you used the distributor position to orient the pump and preserve the #1 spark plug setting. Looking forward to more videos. Thanks again!

And yes the 53A is only for the chain driven cam as it spins with the crank, not opposite like the gear drive.

Maybe you can help my top bolt is a long stud like the lower and my new pump is a m35a and takes the short bolt will this pump still work for me ?? I'm new

You should have a long stud. Long bolt, and a short bolt all three are needed.

Sounds like someone added a extra stud to make the install easier. Either way will work
