The perfect combo is v8 16x19 with Solinco Hyper G Soft 120 at 21 -20 kilos. Top power, control and spin

Tennisrally: which racquet would you prefer between the Head Speed Pro auxetic or the Wilson Blade 18x20 V8? Also, which of the two Blade string would you recommend to a senior 4.0 singles player?

Hello Tennis Rally, excellent video as always. My racket is the Blade V7 18x20, I love the power and plow through it offers and I'm afraid that the new version of the Blade V8 18x20 by reducing the swingweight from 334 to 327 will affect these parameters, what do you think about it? How would you compare these 2 rackets with the new Tecnifiber 305 18x20? Greetings and keep making this type of content.

Hi! Yes, I could tell when playing the swingweight was lower on the v8 compared to v7. I think overall these racquets are "underpowered" and need some weight to create more playability. I would say the v7 is better in stock form but the v8 has potential with slight adjustments (if you are willing to make that effort). The Tecnifibre is overall more powerful in comparison. Simply becuase of the higher stiffness rating and thicker beam. I would describe it as more suited for a modern game, baseliner. More pop to it and easier to use for most players.

Thanks. I just wanted to raise the same question. My racquet of choice is the V7 18x20 as well. These are nice racquets with plenty of plow-through and power but I find the frame to be rather unpredictable and flexible so I sometimes spread shots. I recently playtested the Head Prestige MP 360+ Graphene which is the perfect control racquet although a bit underpowered. I'd probably buy a V8 18x20 if I found one with a higher static & swingweight. Kudos to Tennisrally for sharing with us... ;-)

Gilmillan Just bought a v7 18x20 and all of the reviews are saying low powered so lower the string tension Just wondering what tension you use? Asking from a club level player by the way.

Hi Just bought Blade 16/19 V8....I found that has less head weight than the V7. You know where I should out weights to have the same balance of the V7? Thanks

@Tennisrally_ 2 жыл бұрын
If I recall it has less swingweight which makes it feel less head heavy. If you don’t want to alter the weight to much you should add just 1-2 grams at 12 o’clock. This will affect the swingweight the most.

@@Tennisrally_ which other racquet you think have similar specs to the blade?

I really enjoyed the frame, almost bought it my self but in the end I went to the Vcore Pro 310 which is very similar. The Blade is a typical control frame which still gives somewhat forgiveness compared to older control frames with 90-95 sq.in heads. Similar would be Head Prestige Pro, Yonex Vcore Pro, Dunlop CX200, Babolat Strike VS

Nice review! I’ve gone back to my Blade V8’s from the new TF40’s. Loved the TF’s but was having trouble committing to the full switch. I’m using the V8 16x19’s but also have 2 18x20’s that I just started trying. I like the stock weight of the 18’s better and actually in both sticks, there are 8 mains in the throated grommet area so the spin isn’t a ton different surprisingly if you hit it in the middle a lot. Overall great sticks, they customize easily as well. Great to mess around with lead and find variations you like! These just do everything solid, nothing amazing, which I like. Leaves the game up to you and not the sticks.
