I love watching videos by old gun guys there's no cocky attitude just good old fashioned knowledge and Wisdom. You are a master of your craft and I appreciate this very well done video not about views just passing on knowledge. Hats off my friend and stay safe out there, best wishes.

My first 1911 was an inexpensive ATI that I got for $300. I took that thing apart and put it back together at least a dozen times just to learn every part of the gun. I have several nicer ones now, and I’m glad I have that experience.

Here is a good trick when you’re putting the weapon back together; after you insert the trigger and magazine catch, put in an empty magazine. This will help line everything up so that it is easier to put back in all those little pins. Be sure to take the magazine out before you put back the hammer. Great video, Thanks for posting

That may be the best disassembly/assembly video I ever saw for a 1911. If a guy for Wilson Combat demonstrates, you can bank on the accuracy of his comments. And it's a cinch you will not see many more handsome 1911s than the one used. I learned that even if you cannot afford a Wilson 1911, you can afford their 8 round magazines if you want the best.

I bought a 1911 from Wilson Combat back in 2000. I had to learn how to disassemble and assemble this work of art. Ron Philips is one of my references. The other is “The M1911 complete owner's guide." Because I'm not a gunsmith and there are none in my area. Thanks Ron for your knowledge and expertise. P.S. It still shoots quarter groups at 25 yards; incredible after all these years.

This is a very good instructional video, I tore into my sig sauer scorpion last night and my sear had a third piece to it. When I took it apart it fell out so I didn't see how it went back together, after a little trial and error and some Google I found the correct position for it then had trouble with the sear spring. Thankfully Google was there with some stills and showed me how that was applied. Was definitely an experience and I'm glad my 1911 is cleaned. Thanks for this video.

Excellent info, thx. Some say Browning worked out the kinks in the 1911 by the time he made the Hi Power, so the Hi Power had none of the 1911's "faults". I think that generally refers to feeding and extraction, but I haven't had any major issues. But of course build quality varies and so many have made and are making the 1911, not so with the hi power...also, "cheap" mags obviously would factor in. The 1911 probably has one of the best triggers ever...

I went though Army Basic Training in 1966. My DI did a complete disassembly in front of me. The punch line was, I had to reassemble before I could go on my first pass off post. I did it. He figured I should be able to do it, since I was off to armorer's' school in about three weeks.

Let me read from the package I hold in my hand: "The Shock Buff prevents the slide from battering the frame during recoil..."
@cz1always6088 жыл бұрын
So I have a Q hope you can give me some feed back .... Please, When I pull my slide all the way back and let it go by feeding it with my hand , the slide gets hung up up on the disconnect . of course if I let go of the slide it just goes into battery . And if I just rack it it racks fine..... Only if I slowly ease the slide forward with my hand having tension on it , does it get hung up... Q will this break in over time ?? Will the Disconnect easy up and not be so hard to press down , so the slide will just ease over it , without hitting it at all. Its taken a few hundred rounds more like 500 to get it to the point were I could push the spring down by hand , still need the wrench to turn the bushing . thank you Jerald K

So you’re interfering with how the gun is designed to function and asking why it doesn’t function? Stop...
@murphroberts48915 жыл бұрын
I dont know what a q is but i hope ron does and gets right back to you. everything breaks over time so dont be surprised.and there is probably a reason the recoil spring has sixteens pounds of tension on it when its fully compressed.
