I’m already kind of tired of the splat trend. When Jess Whittemore invented it, it was astonishing to see a 12 foot fiberglass boat vertically surfing the upstream pillow of the right rock. Thrilling and new. Risky. But now...repeatedly slamming our soon-to-be $2200 boats into any rock on the river, transferring plastic to natural rock an ugly dollar at a time. An expert looks like a beginner to the casual watcher. And the go pro microphone soundtracks the whole fiasco with the thunk of a knocked-over trash can... I’m out.
