I never got into the whole grunge scene in the early '90s. I love good music, and this is great music. I'm just grateful that I grew up with great parents who turned me on to a wide verity of music!

This album is in my top 5 favs of all-time. Pop perfection. Glen Ballard also produced another top 5 album fav of mine, Jagged Little Pill by Alanis Morissette. This performance is great. A lot more energy and I prefer this arrangement over their Grammy performance of this song.

If this video is getting more and more views by the day is because of me. I've been nostalgic for the past 3-4 weeks and been on a WP binge. I can still remember the first time I saw them on tv. Imagine, they were a fresh act in the 90's, they all sound good, they're all beautiful (given fact) and the way they sound as one (Wilson Phillips) is so unique that it captivated me at 14-16 yrs old.

It's from 1990 and wasn't recorded in Widescreen. whoever resized it into widescreen didn't do any of them any favors, why do people do that?
@tcleehk6 жыл бұрын
Oh well is it widescreened? Well I recorded this on my VHS and kept it until a few years ago when I transferred this to digital format with the same specs and made no alternations. I did not notice any difference, well maybe it's just me and my vision or whatever
@tcleehk6 жыл бұрын
By the way Carnie did look that wide (apologies Carnie I love you) it's not due to widescreen alternations
@LyonsArcade6 жыл бұрын
You must have not done it on purpose then, some people can't tell... but look at Chyna's face when the vocals start. See how her face is really wide and stretched out like a cat? The video originally would have been almost square but now it's long and wide like modern monitors. Instead of just putting black lines on the side, one of the video software things you ran it through stretched it out. Carnie was wide but she wasn't THAT wide give her a little credit :)
@BolsaChicaRadio5 жыл бұрын
TO: @@LyonsArcade & tcleehk: Indeed, there probably was some simple "check mark" when you did the initial upload onto You Tube, that was pre-clicked for "present in widescreen". The error was not made during your digitizing process. I encourage you, tcleehk, to bring back up in your computer this video transfer (if you still have the file) and re-upload. Indeed, Carnie's back-end does look very, very bloated...more than it should be, as well as Chyna's, where she was fairly slim back then. The widescreen/anamorphic process, usually takes the image on the outer most areas and renders it's stretching there, that's why when you see the drummer in the initial "static" shot (at 00:03) he himself doesn't look too stretched, because he is totally in the center view and the camera is not panning on him. About the fact that widescreen was not available in 1990, is true and not true. True, in the sense that videocams and analoge video mixing systems were still pretty much recording in the 4:3 dimension (square box), but 90% of all films, were done in the 1:75.1 (standard widescreen) or the very wide 2:35.1 (letterbox) like "The King & I", "Ben Hurr" & even "Space Odyssey 2001" & "Dirty Harry"; but live Network TV telecast, not at that time...not at all. When 16X9 came out in the early/mid-2000's, it created all kinds of video errors, incorrect synthesis & "fake stretching", such as we see here in the Wilson Phillips Billboard Music Awards capture. Don't get me wrong "tcleehk"; thank you for bringing back this great moment in TV music history, but it made a wee bit too "wide" of an entry! (ha!) BCRadio

jname96, you are so right. There is always someone who maintains that music should always have to change. Like Jann Browne said in the early 90's, [Tell me why]? Grunge was never necessary. Never. Some music is just timeless. Why does that have to be a bad thing? Tell me why? Again, jname96, you are on the money. Wilson Phillips were and are talented women. The apple doesn't fall too far from the tree.
@BobbyGeneric1455 жыл бұрын
You are exactly right... But look at it this way: the 90s was such a free experimental decade for music, artists in 1990 were A) tryin to shake off the remnants of the 80s,and B) trying wild new stuff to see what worked.
