These racquets I find are harder to manage in doubles very hit and miss I don't play enough singles to get the benefit of a heavy stick. I have a blade 98s I would be interested to know how this compares to that it's a16×18 though I had to take the weight off and it was ok it needs restringing now but played for a year with it. I'm using babalot pure aero but that is very muted initially I liked it added a bit of weight and it was ok then I tried the blade again and just liked the sound of the strings so much better. It's swings and roundabouts I have other lighter racquets but they are older I think I can say I have not found the perfect racquet.

Man, what a review! You set the bar very high for future reviews! I don't think we deserve such a review tbh. Since you also reviewed Head Pro Tour 2.0 (which you are also fond of based on the comments below :), did you find a modified Blade Pro more manoeuvrable? Does it have a stiffer upper hoop than HPT 2.0, or a stiff upper hoop in general? I noticed that I don't like stiff upper hoops, but much more prefer a uniform flex. And my easy vote goes to UP 16x19 for your next review! Thank you, and best of luck, I hope your channel grows exponentially!
@ACTennis4 жыл бұрын
LOL yeah i'm afraid that i won't be able to get to this standard for the next one since i took so much time to do it, A real H22 has a stiffer hoop , but the BP doesn't seem to have it at all, it's like so nice throughout contact when the stability flows through with the feel - but i really think it has to do with the string choice and tension, that's when it kind of reveals itself, probably for both frames I also prefer uniform flex, so i thought I would like the UP much more than the BP, but BP has really has been put up there in my eyes, it will be very hard to top And yes modified it was 150% more easy to handle, even a little more than the RF97, but can provide just as big of a ball Thanks so much!

@@steveschaeffer5999 Yeah i just wrap it around the handle, some overlapping and some above or below, just enough to cover maybe 2cm or so worth Also if you want to be stingy like me, you could place it on some kind of tape, electrical or sticky to help it stay, but also to make it easier to reuse for another racquet 8g is probably around the amount that it will likely start protruding from the grip a bit more, so up to you if you want to spread it more evenly on the handle, but im a 1hander so im not fussed about that

After playing the Blade Pro 18x20 for 10 hours now and comparing it to the Blade v7 18x20 I found out the following: 1) The Blade Pro is much more lively than the Blade v7. I was really surprised how much more feel the Blade Pro delivers compared to the Blade v7! The Blade Pro really fells like an extension of your forearm! Especially on volleys and drop shots the Blade Pro provides tons more feeling!! 2) The sweetspot of the Blade Pro is smaller, you really have to hit the ball proper to get the full power out of the racquet. (the strings in the mains and the crosses are closer together compared to the Blade v7) 3) The Blade Pro has a little more power than the Standard Blade v7. I strung the Blade Pro with 1kg higher tension in the mains and the crosses to compensate that. 4) It is more difficult and demanding to play the Blade Pro. You really must hit the ball in / around the sweetspot, if you don't have that level, you won't be happy with the Blade Pro! 5) The Beam is slightly different and the frame design is as well! - All in all, I LOVE this version of the Blade (which is actually not really a Blade but a variation of the H22) and ordered another three! All the best to the Tennis community, George

The RA rating was very interesting! We were checking 8 racquets and the average racquet had an RA of 63 unstrung. The one racquet that was strung had an RA of 60. (after we cut out the strungs it was also 63). So the Blade Pro seems a little softer than expected. (which I like!!) @ACTennis10 ай бұрын
Yeah - i mean ill be honest, that at this time, the ratings were initially implemented, so i didnt have a full spreadsheet of what to compare it with, now i would say it may be a little lower rated, but not that much - this type of racquet is built for an attacking playstyle and it has to be accurate to some degree, it just wont be as accurate as the 18x20 It's not a spin heavy racquet, it can generate spin, but it does better to smash through the ball with its weight, and it because of the stability, where you aim, it does not really fall off when you strike the ball, it holds steady if that makes sense As for weight, i used 8g in top of the handle and 7g in the buttcap i believe, it depends on your swingstyle if its more manoverable or not, if you prefer head heavy then no it wont be, because its adding 15g of weight, that will be slower in general, but if it moves more efficiently for your swing, then possibly yes

Really nice 👌 review! The Blade Pro is a real beast of a racquet but with the hefty swingweight it is out of my wheelhouse at this point in time. Your other Blade reviews have enticed my to buy the V7 Blade 98 16x19 in a reverse color. I had my first hitting session today with it and was lucky to get one within spec weight and added 2 grams at 10&2 as well as the butt of the handle. The strung weight came to 328 grams with a Wilson Contour grip. I have to say after coming from the Phantom 100p, the Blade has more power due to better plow through and the feel is absolutely phenomenal. The stability is quite good and no arm pains at all even on bad mishits! I only use synthetic strings these days but with Gosen Micro 16 at 54lbs there was plenty of control and comfort. I don't know why I gave on the Blade last Summer, lol 😆. Definitely assists in maintaining good stroke production. Can't say enough good things about the V7 Blade line. As for the Blade Pro, it's honestly out of my league being a strong 4.0-4.5 and 53 years of age with some shoulder issues. Keep up the good reviews. I have enjoyed the Blade in many iterations, even including the CV version which people didn't like, the shape and weight just combine it into something fantastic to play with, and something i will reconsider using again in future if i decide to move away from my Gravity - Blade Pro is definitely a tough cookie even for me, i wouldnt play at my absolute best with it, but its capable of doing some amazing things
@kenharris71944 жыл бұрын
Sure thing 👍! I played with the 2015 version of the Blade which was good frame but too tip heavy and the SW was a bit too much. The CV version was too stiff IMO. The V7 is my favorite and has an old school feel which reminds of the older Volkl C10 Pro. I have really become a racquet 🎾 geek over the last 5 years but it is my only vice in life, lol 😆. Take care and happy hitting! I have still been playing outdoors in NY if you can believe it if the weather is in the lower 40's. Disguise the limit in the Spring with the Blade hitting heavy ground strokes and serves!!

Excellent review. I'm guessing the amazing Emma Raducanu is using this, or at least the H22. Thinking about the specs, 21.5mm flat beam, 305g leads me to the Dunlop CX200 (98). That's supposed to be 65RA unstrung, but has a more friendly 31.5 balance (I noted that the Wilson web-site Pro Blade balance is 32.5). I wonder if the Dunlop plays nicely too, probably with a bit of lead in the hoop. I don't find many reviews of it as most are on the CX 95s. The 98 might be interesting to customise as there's a pretty close lineage between the Dunlop and Wilson layups.
@ACTennis3 жыл бұрын
Sorry mate , didn't get a notification on this - i think Raducanu is using a Steam, and probably a softer alternate version, i've used one recently, and they are very nice, like a Pure drive that's soft with actual feel

@@ACTennis Yes she's using the Steam apparently. If she does well at the beginning of next season, it would be great if Wilson could reissue it, perhaps as a paintjob Blade-Emma, like the Iga 298g. Really nice 👌 review. The Blade Pro definitely goes to another level in playability above the V7 Blade. The only drawback for me is the high swingweight. I played with the V7 Blade 98 16x19 for about a year and found it too low powered. I have switched to the Prince Phantom 100p and have not turned back. The Phantom 100p is a much forgiving racquet and more user friendly for me these days. I still do appreciate your review of the Blade Pro!

They aren't really great racquets to compare, they are like comparing an RF to a regular Blade, one's lightweight and swings fast and the other is more heft, plow, and stability But feel is unmatched on the Blade Pro, and the maneuverability is going to be quite different with the swingweight

AC, I've followed your channel for a while - amazing reviews and attention to detail. You briefly compared the Yonex Regna to the Blade Pro in your Regna review in terms of flex - overall, how would you compare them in terms of feel, ease of use, power/penetration/spin, and comfort? The main thing that concerns me about the Regna is the stiffness, as I have a sensitive elbow. Thanks in advance!
@ACTennis2 жыл бұрын
I compare the feel because that's what's comparable, most of the other characteristics are different because the spec range is totally different Obviously power and penetration will go to the BP with much higher swingweight, spin might be the Regna, ease of use obviously Regna Regna you can definitely feel more stiffness than Blade Pro, but Blade Pro's weight for me personally who has a very wristy and whipping forehand, would eventually hurt my wrist, and i just won't be overall that fast with the racquet With the right string and tension, Regna can feel very soft, but overdo the tension and it will feel like a board unless you hit the middle

@@steveschaeffer5999 Oh crap my bad, i didnt realize this video was the Blade Pro, saw the thumbnail from afar and it looked like my normal Blade video so i just assumed and misread In that case, Blade Pro a little more cumbersome to move around, and QC will be your biggest enemy, but it has alot more power than the regular Blade, but i feel because of the weighting between TF and Blade i could still generate more with the TF because i can swing super fast, whereas Blade i use its swingweight mass to power the ball in the same pace, similar story goes for spin (fairly open pattern) It has alot more launch angle still, as my original comment, and also is a nice serving racquet, biggest difference is stability and feel are the highest grade you can find on market, both of them combined and then supplemented with its power is what makes it such a unique racquet And in that case i still probably could go for the 18x20 if the swingweight is 305unstrung or 335 strung Anyway Im happy to answer any question, hope you can find what youre looking for

Great review! My daughter play with the 18x20 v7 and doing great with it, but sometimes the ball does seat in the opponent’s strike zone. Have you tested the 18x20 version of the blade pro? @ACTennis3 жыл бұрын
If you can find out the swingweight of your current Blade, if she handles something around the 335-340 area already then a Blade Pro could be a legitimate option, although the beam is slightly thicker, it may eat into the racquet head speed a little But Blade Pro is a powerful racquet if you are an advanced player, just not if you are someone who needs to work on technique, it's basically like a softer RF97 16x19 BP has a high launch angle, too yes, but power and spin are there (penetrating) - 18x20 is just a slightly lower launch angle i believe, since the pattern is still quite open, but it's much more powerful

@@ACTennis I took your recommendation and strung up the most HL version of the the 18x20 (hyperG 18 same as the current stick). Just want to provide some feedback and compare notes. We hit about hour comparing the v7 18x20 with this Blade Pro. We noticed that the BP have more spin than the v7 and the ball travel slower than the v7 across the court, however, when it hits the ground, it has heavier spins and very penetrating; but the penetrating/pushing level is about the same as the v7 in our opinion. The ball hitting off the v7 we feel travel faster / flatter across the court, which is better when playing competitively (less time for opponent to recover)., also the ball stays lower. With the BP, we feel that the feedback from the ball was lacking... when we hit a harder ball, it give the same feedback as a rally ball so it was kinda hard to get a feel if you are going to hit long or short. We think that the PD is good racket but not sure it is better than the v7 18x20. The v7 is great racket with good feedback and feel. I guess it all up to personal preference. Thank you again for your feedback and recommendation. Please continue to share you thoughts on rackets as we find your reviews are the best on youtube. Cheers!

@@natalietan2757 Amazing thorough feedback on your experience 😁 thank you very much for your input - definitely the feel is a preference, most likely the subjective part of a racquet Also keep in mind that this particular model the BP (called H22) are quite old on market now, just being released to public, so traditionally these racquets will require more weight overall or higher swingweights to optimise it's best qualities Sometimes at the end, the experience also comes down to quality control, for instance my Blade v7 was 330 SW and my BP was 336, which is significant enough to make a playable difference Also, as much as i love this racquet, it's not something I would turn to for a tournament, I still use Gravity Pro or Pure Strike because whilst these racquets are high quality in build, they also don't provide full user friendliness to handle all different types of balls unless you are using pure skill and footwork (both of which I lack in many aspects of my game) But again, thanks so much for your insight, I enjoy hearing others thoughts whether they agree or not, everyone has their own needs from a racquet 🙂

@ACTennis4 жыл бұрын
Yeah it's fine, Diadem is a good performing string, one of the softer polys, very high spin potential, the only thing with it, is that the playability feel dies out much faster than the actual playability of the strings - which is that the strings feel nice and smooth in the beginning as you'd expect a soft poly to, but at some point the feel suddenly becomes quite plastic like, but you can play with it for quite a long period after that happens The durability itself is on the very high end, takes alot to break it, you can get away with playing with it for a very long time

I use EZ Tour also and while BP feels more connected and thuddy, flat serves+fast groundstrokes are better with EZT. Do you find success after these years with those mods? I add 4 g at 10, 4 g at 2, and 10 g inside butt cap; really like the feel but my opponents can return the balls better than those hit from EZT

When you were adding weights to your racquet (head&grip) did you use lead tape to do so or silicone in your grip?
@ACTennis4 жыл бұрын
I used a mix of tungsten putty and lead tape on handle, since it'd just be a major waste of tape if i did use it only, and it will probably make the grip protrude a bit too far On head i just added 2g each side on 3&9 , but my swingweight is only 336, many others are getting over 340+++ so it may not need it

Great review mate. How does it stack up to the head pro tour 2.0.
@ACTennis4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Kris - PT2.0 is probably more of a control frame and smaller sweetspot unless you go very low in tension like 42 and under, BP especially 16x19 hits huge with deadly spin, but both feel great, perhaps BP feels a little more hard to get around with slightly thicker beam but may not be noticeable to some

Your racket knowledge is solid. Feel is super subjective. Heaps of effort put into the review. I prefer the Black 2013 blade over this frame personally. Side note I think you would benefit with the purchase of a dedicated Video / dslr camera. You need to be able to change your shutter speed to stop that weird pulsing of the footage shot under lights. Good luck with it all.

Thank you - I'd love to purchase a new camera, but just got this action camera as a supplementary already just to make these reviews, previously using a phone was even worse haha - also just bought a new computer that will speed up my editing times, and most of my spare money just goes to the actual racquets which i buy Maybe in future, since my channel is still only just starting now anyway, or i'll just limit my recordings to daytime, but it will probably mean it'll just take longer to make videos since i predominantly play at night time Appreciate the feedback! I have currently been using the pro tour 630 and was wondering if you can provide a comparison between pt630 and the blade pro.
@ACTennis4 жыл бұрын
The PT630 will play alot more flexible and have alot more ball pocketing, due to its thinner beam it will produce less power and closed pattern will be far more precise and a lower launch angle and spin potential, it can still provide a decent ball from weight if weighted up nicely, but is more a precision instrument in my eyes where the Blade Pro is more of an offensive baseline weapon Perhaps the 18x20 Blade Pro will put it a little more in the same realm, but maybe being a more powerful version due to extra beam thickness

Hi.Could you help me with my racket pick?Im an aggressive baseliner ,but currently playing with a 16x20 frame.I hit with a lot of spin and power,have feel,but not that of a control oriented person like volleys etc.Should I pick a power oriented racket and develope it,or pick a control oriented one with less power and add some power strings?
@ACTennis4 жыл бұрын
What racquet are you using at the moment? Any history of wrist / elbow injuries? and your current skill level? It depends if your power is self generated or you are having the racquet do half the work, if it's an important part of your game to over power people but you need the help of the racquet, then it may not be worth switching - so you could increase tension or go with a more controlled string (least expensive route) If you want to develop your game and learn to self generate power, then a more control racquet with more feel could be a good option

@@ACTennis I have a Wilson Blx Tour 297 grams ,no injuries in the past,I would say intermidiate to advanced .Just like you said,I like to overpower my opponents,have a lot of spin,but can hit some backhand crosscourts.I play with a RPM Blast at 25 kg .I feel ,like some grips provide me more power than,others,so I would say,that I wanna keep my power at the same level throught the game.I was looking at Head extreme pro,have your tried it?The only thing that bothers me in my racket is the power and weight,I would like something heavier

@@jacobzak9597 Yeah something like the head extreme pro is definitely going to be super powerful and spinny, also the swingweight looks manageable and nothing too crazy to transition to if you're intermediate to advanced already and the stiffness is probably better for your arm than the BLX Tour from memory

I played with Blade Pro 18x20 this weekend. Only mod I made was to put on leather grip. You can feel the robustness and power of this frame. Although i have to say it felt like i was hitting with a RF97 albeit one that's head heavy. RF97 is much easier to swing. I am going to put some additional weight in the but cap, and see how it plays.

@ACTennis4 жыл бұрын
Both are amazing racquets, provided your swingweight is within your range for both, but more specifically the BP I enjoy both equally, but i play better with my GPro which i can lower the SW with thin strings, on the BP i cant because its quite an open pattern, but 18x20 would be fine to try Gpro is just more forgiving, faster because i can make it lighter static weight, hits a consistent bigger rally ball due to racquet head speed - BP has better serves, stability and all out power shot, control isnt bad but Gpro is better with closed pattern

So I have been playing for 2 weeks now over 25 hours. Modified with 15 gms in the handle. My 3 racquets came at 305,306 and 310gms. I have a strong double hand backhand and found that my hand is better without the 15gm modification. The racquet gets too heavy although it’s headlight and you can be late when you are playing matches. I tried Luxilon Alu soft at 47x45, Signum pro expression at 47 and Luxilon at 49x47 but was not satisfied and the balls were still flying on me occasionally plus the strings break in about 3-4 hours. Wilson Revolve 1.30 at 47 plays like a dream and no customisation of the racquet required, if you have a double hand backhand. You have to be a regularly blade 98 16x19 or 18x16 player to get the right muscle memory for this racquet. Then when you switch to this racquet - no one will every win a match against you!

Great video. I'm 4.5 I play with a V7 18x20. I've been very tempted to buy a Pro Labs after finding your channel but was actually thinking about the 16x19 Pro Labs instead of the 18x20. Yay or nay? I've loved my V7 but watching these videos is giving me a twitch. I cant demo these rackets since I live in Hawaii so I need advice haha :( EDIT: I use String Project Armour or Magic which are two of the softest polys I've ever used. I used to play with Hyper G's and Element but have moved to these two strings. The Pro Labs H22 sounds like it has the soft feel I'm chasing. I have somewhere around 7g of tape on my V7 handle to make it more headlight too.

I now switch between Vcore 95, Prestige mid (last generation), and Phantom 97p all of them have weight on them. They all fit my game better. Awesome Editing, great detailed review!! Ultra Pro 16x19 next please! I just got the Ultra Tour 18x20 (prev version) for 107 usd (but still in the US with my sister) and wanted to see how the 16x19 compares to the 18x20. Just got into racquet customization currently using a used, old Head Youtek IG Prestige MP (2 g at 12 and counterbalance 2g buttcap) and old Youtek IG Radical MP (295g) 18x20 modded to 337.5 g, 334-5 SW (2 g at 12, 4 g at 3 and 9 and buttcap counterbalance at 13.4g to make it to 6 pt headlight instead of 3 pt headlight), supposingly quite similar to the ultra tour 18x20. But definitely looking forward to your review for the Ultra Pro 16x19, because it is a possible purchase for me to get it from Australia and have my gf's fam bring it back here. So it happened that I accidentally customized the Radical MP to 345 SW at 345g (extra 3 grams of weight at 12 to 5g lead total and counterweight at buttcap), and I'm guessing that's what swinging the Blade Pro is like if you get the higher range of the spec and 2-3g of lead at 12 :p. Definitely a different beast. Shoutout from Indonesia!

@@ACTennis Thank you!! and I have watched all your videos including the ultra pro initial impression! also No for the heavy rackets haha my plan is to switch to the ezone tour (my ideal weight's about 315g unstrung) that im waiting for in singapore, had to get grip L1 since they run big and luckily they have 2 right there. the Youtek IG Prestige MP and Radical MP were just for fun in the meanwhile :p but the ultra tour Im getting from the states are just cuz i wanna try the feeling of the H19 at a great discount hahaha, plus sellable in Indonesia since they don't have those here so I'm not worried :D I definitely am not trying to go above 340 in static weight and swingweight! But definitely looking forward to your review! I have another question. So I found a gravity tour for about 130 AUD (normal price here in Indo is 240-275 AUD) approx here in Indonesia, which is quite a steal. Saw your review on the Gravity Line, and how its interchangeable with Gravity Pro too. Bigger headsize compared to the Ezone Tour and more forgiving in terms of sweetspot while the other specs seems quite similar in SW, Balance, etc. I've tried the MP but felt it needed more weight and the tour looks VERY interesting. Would you recommend buying?? I know that the Gravity Pro and the Tour are your current rackets, so i'd love to know what you think between the ezone tour and the gravity tour/pros interchangeable usage. In terms of level i'd say between 4-4.5, SW forehand, two handed backhand, 1.7m and 82-83kg(bit heavy but I can run no problem hahaha) and before covid i do gym religiously so powerlifting, olympic weightlifting crossfit, all those i have trained also basketball for another sport I play. So I only got back to tennis since mid 2019, 10 year hiatus, played growing up since i was 4 but stopped here and there. just a little background in terms of myself. I can definitely sell the ezone tours for good price here too so i'm not worried bout that, my only worry is quality control for the gravity... given that I can only find out the weight of the rackets, and not the balance or swingweight. Thanks again and looking forward to your growing channel and more videos to come, quality content and IMO one of the best!!

@@nevinliauw Wow that's awesome, thanks so much for watching them all! Gravity Tour is quite solid and all around racquet, very versatile, but yeah quality control is legitimately the only worry, much like the Blade Pro in that kind of sense - if you got the spare cash and being a great price, it's probably a good shot to try, not if its only slightly discounted Ezone Tour for me personally is a bit clunky, like it plays amazing in all categories but doesnt suit my swing style, i would play excellent with it if it was under spec, so if its kind of hard to handle, id use a thin string to reduce the swingweight like i do with my Gravity, and since the string pattern is dense enough, it shouldnt break too fast
