Thanks for the info. When I first started, the competition i focused on too much... now, I see them as the overflow that can help out my potential future clients as my schedule is usually busy for atleast 2 weeks. Takes the stress off at times. Focus on you and what you want to achieve for a positive mindset. Hope that helps someone out!

Good stuff. I've been in business since 2012 and I heard nothing wrong here. For those starting out, you definitely want to start off knowing your target demographic of clients. I know I didn't want the trashy messed up vehicles. However, I will take them but it's gonna cost. Don't like it then go to the cheap guy up the street. Know your worth and stick to it but be realistic.

I have a question. I want to start detailing but I also want to have a lot of the small things figured out. One of my questions being is do you ever use distilled water? If so then when? Another being what is the most effective way to dry? An air compressor? Towels? Thank you for the great content!

Get a cr spotless to avoid hard water damage and get a ego 650 cordless blower to blow dry the car , Gyeon silk dryer drying towel

You really dont need to worry sbout DI water when youre starting out. Its expensive and shouldnt be a concern of yours ths early in the bussiness. get basic tools and products and start cleaning cars. make money and get customers.

@@MrDoM2K9 probably the most foolish thing ever said, a paint finish is arguably the most expensive area on a car you definitely want your first tool to be a water filter or don’t wash cars at all. Water spot damage is not profitable or professional

@@jjjjjjjjjjjhjjjjjhjj As someone who actively runs a profitable detailing business, in an area where water spotting can happen quickly, I agree with @Dom Curtis. In the beginning stages, they need to focus on getting customers, not high end equipment that puts them in debt. You can work panel by panel, work in the shade, or just work quickly and avoid water spotting altogether. Over time as the person makes money, they can then reinvest into something like DI system down the road. I'd say start with a couple gallons of DI water from the grocery store, and your favorite rinse less wash.

I liked the video. I ask another professional detailer how to detail Camry LE stock steel rims the detailer didn't get back to me. I bought Meguiar's Hot Rims Wheel & Tire Cleaner. I did a chat with Meguiar's they told me it would work on the steel rims as long as it wasn't repainted. I have wheel covers or hubcaps whatever you want to call them. What I want to know is does the hubcap come off to clean the rim or does it stay on? I also have Meguiar's Ultimate wheel cleaner but I think that's for custom rims only not the tires. Please answer this for me thanks. I shouldn't ask you this because you do high end vehicles not something like my old 2000 Camry LE. I detail my own car.

Should you get a Business License right away or stay under the table? Which would be better?
@NickVetter2 жыл бұрын
Get it right away; you won't regret it. Plus it's the law.
@TheTommyOhh2 жыл бұрын
You don't need a license to detail. However if you are asking if you should work under a business entity, Corp, LLC, s Corp, etc., I would recommend it to keep liability separate from you personal stuff. But it will depend on how much risk you are willing to take as there will be yearly fees and other responsibilities. Not sure where you live so consulting a business attorney might be beneficial.

I think going into debt when starting a detailing business is not ideal. You can start making the same amount of revenue by using simple tools and products with no shop or fancy van until you grow big enough to upgrade your systems. It allows you to exit the business without losing money or just save money until you are actually growing. It's scary when I see new detailers with a $40k van set up or a brand new shop with 0 customers.
