Warriors got off to a hot start, leading by 10 after 1. Then halftime found themselves down by 3. After the third, the Warriors only led by 8. Before commanding a 16 point victory. I say this because far too many wrongly consider Wilt a stat padding loser. Whom scoring did not help his team win.

@edbea2
@edbea2 2 жыл бұрын
He invented it. Back then, they called offensive fouls big time, so you couldn't just knock people over and down on the floor, like they allowed Shaq to do, with your shoulder and score the ball with impunity without getting whistled. You had to be more skilled, which big men later began to become. Wilt was waaaaaay ahead of his time, highly skilled in his prime and played with the Harlem Globetrotters as a young player, and they wouldn't take you if you weren't skilled with the ability to pass, shoot, dribble, do tricks with the ball, make shots from half court, etc. Wilt could make hooks from half court, was the best behind the back passer from the post in history, best rebounder, shot blocker, highest jumping big man, fastest 7Fter, strongest, and none of that $hit is even close man. He would murder these centers in his prime. He was old AF and on a bad knee after recent surgery when the great Kareem entered the league to great fanfare, and Wilt still sky jacked that sky hook plenty and dunk attempts as well...and Wilt was old, getting ready to retire.

Well done! I got to see Wilt with the Globbies in 1958 in Camp Lejeune and met him, with my Dad, at a 1966 or 67 game with the 76ers. He graciously signed the program for me. I believe he is the greatest combination of size, strength, speed, and athletic ability ever. Random example: Bill Walton says (on a youtube video) he saw Wilt throw a football 90 yards underhanded!

What's remarkable about Wilt Chamberlain, in defence he was putting up numbers similar to Bill Russell and then in offense he was scoring over 50% higher than the best offensive players in the game, Elgin Baylor being one! Yet people call him out, implying that what he did wasn't particularly impressive, well ever legendary player in his era thinks differently, Bill Russell’s said he was the best player in the nba, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar learned never to give up because of Wilt, West the logo said, "playing in the modern era, he would make the present centres look weak!" I will take their word over those who arguably never had the chance to see him play!

He came pretty close to unleashing on Kareem in the 1972 championship. Kareem played him very hard through 3 quarters. After Kareem sucker punched Happy Hairston, while Hairston was down on the floor hurt, Wilt was very pissed off and came alive the fourth quarter. Kareem couldn't hang with him, at all. Wilt wore him out, offensively and defensively, that fourth quarter, stealing the ball from him several times, blocking 3 sky hooks in a row, plus some more. He had Kareem ducking for cover on several dunk facials, plus wearing him out with the fadeaway bank shot, not to mention offensive rebound put backs. This was a prime Jabbar vs Wilt, at the end of his career and shortly after major knee surgery.

Name me one big man in todays game who consistently does what Wilt almost always did: get a defensive rebound on the baseline, pass it 25 feet down court on the fast break, and be at the offensive basket the same time as the player receiving the outlet pass. It just wasn't this game either. No other big man in history has had the speed, endurance, and strength that Wilt had. You can argue the GOAT all you want, but that statement is irrefutable if you're objective at all.

If you could draft jordan/wilt/lebron as a rookie id choose Wilt every time. Jordan cant average 20 rebounds a game for you or block guys in the post with sky hooks, but Wilt can. Give wilt that 90s bulls team and see what happens. Having Wilt and Rodman, the 2 best rebounders of all time on the same team would be insane. They're both maybe top 10 best defenders of all time also. And pippen was lock down defense too. Oh and Wilt went entire seasons averaging playing 48 minutes a game.

Wow great footage; there is something for Wilt detractors and from Wilt fans (like me) to take from this. Yeah, he is head and shoulders above everybody in the league in 62, BUT he's ALSO a guy who's clearly not putting his pedal all the way to the metal either, which makes it even more incredible. The fade away, the finger roll, those are not the kind of moves he would have tried if he was a bully. He reminds me of Tyson Fury in his early days, a guy with a 10 inches in reach and 60 lbs in weight advantage, but nevertheless wants to prove he's skilled like Mayweather and dances around on the back foot. Then when he fought Wilder and got knocked down, he realized he had to quit playing around and use his size and strength. Same with Wilt. Had he needed to play against Hakeem or Shaq Diesel or Ewing or the Admiral, he would have used his athleticism way more and probably been close to as dominant as he was in the early 60's. The last game he played against the Knicks in the finals, 7 points down when the clock is winding down, the Lakers make a steal on the inbound pass, the ball goes to Wilt and he quickly and aggressively stuffs it over Willis Reed, is I think a good example of how the young athletic Wilt would have played in the modern era, and it's terrifying to think about.

Darral Imhoff set so many records that season: Most points allowed game (100), most points allowed back to back games (160), most points allowed to one player: season (didn't calculate it). Without Imhoff, so many records would not have been set. He gave up 80 points in two games to Henry Finkel and 54 to Willis Reed. Imhoff, however, ran an offense very well and was a solid rebounder.

In Wilt time of playing the same Game ,as Jordan does.As For me .We all know that Jordan change the game well said and done. Still i not even gon use that to prove the real deal. Jordan was at his best in his time with more competitive players on both team most of the times who literally tries to break him as much He even have more skills than the elder. And last but not the least even when the King of Basket ball Michael Jordan . Points are not so easy as the elder .In his time of playing basket ball .

In the preliminary game, Power Memorial High School defeated LaSalle Academy 56-44, led by Lew Alcindor (as then known), then 15 (sophomore), who scored 22 points and had 15 rebounds. Wilt hit 14-14 free throws! No personal fouls in 48 minutes (lol). By the way, the Knicks centers were Gene Conley (6'8") and Paul Hogue (6'9"). Darrel Imhoff didn't play; he was with the Detroit Pistons in 1962-63.

I'm convinced that Wilt would have been a more polished and athletic version of Giannis Antetokounmpo in today's game. In other words, he still woulda been dominating the game. He would have also been right there at or near the top in the golden era of NBA Centers during the 90's (Hakeem, Shaq, Robinson, Ewing etc.)
