Your right in your thinking Sandy and fold up bikes are a godsend if you have health problems, easy for a train ride away and with front and back pannier racks you can load them as much as any other bike. I've just bought a battery one and they are even better as it give you the distance if used sparingly, plus that little help when the legs are tired, and a cheap bottle dynamo with a charging kit will charge anything a power bank would as your going along, peddle or battery. Do what you can Sandy as it is out and also healthy double that up with a swim a week and you will be as fit as a fiddle.

As a recent subscriber, I’m super happy that YT chose to put your channel into my feed, as every one of your videos I’ve found enjoyable. I started with a video on ancient history, then mountain biking (been enjoying that for 30+ years), followed by Bromptoneering (celebrated 10 years this year with my H6R) and camping (haven’t done that since uni, but I’m keen to combine it with my Brompton). Whilst I’ve yet to watch the motorcycling, I’m sure I’ll find that enjoyable too. Which ever direction you decide to take your channel, they’ll always be an audience. And for those who don’t like certain aspects, don’t waste your time whingeing, just jog along - the beauty of YT is there’s something out there for everyone - or start your own channel.

Wonderful video. These are my favourite videos on your channel, by the way. I have been inspired by your "Brompton videos" and I might get one myself now, actually! Very wise words about freedom as well. Thank you.
@WiltshireMan2 жыл бұрын
Freedom is being eroded now Bjorn. Possibly the common man is now at the pinnacle of freedom and from this point it can only go backwards now and there is pressure from the most wealthy to direct the course of the world going forward. The Brompton has some huge positives and is a very underestimated bicycle, it's not cheap though but I like the fact that it can carry a Rucksack instead of panniers, this makes it very flexible and ofcourse the ability to fold it and carry it is a very useful thing, but they also have a down side in that the small wheels don't roll quite so well on rough terrain, really they are designed for a smoother surface. A great all round bike but an MTB with back and front luggage racks would be a better option for a lot of folk. I love my Brompton though and shall be taking it on the train to more remote places at some point. Check out Brompton traveller on KZbin. He has a very good channel devoted to the bike

I am blessed with being surrounded by some awesome National parks in the Northern rivers region of N.S.W, Australia, so I don't have to cycle all that far to access some outstanding campsites.... do however need to work on the fitness levels..... but, hey, WHY NOT.. !! I hope that you have inspired a few more of us Old Farts to try some different things, and maybe stretch the comfort zones a bit ..... Health and happiness are in no way a burden to carry. Keep on doing what you do Sandy, in whichever directions you are taken... but PLEASE keep taking us all with you...... Cheers to you Mate.... JB....

That is without question the most INSPIRATIONAL you tube video I have ever EVER watched ! First it’s the Brompton- I’m totally in love with mine - for all the reasons (and much more ) that you describe. I cannot keep off my Brompton- I have many bikes and a v expensive porsche. But I love the Brompton- I cycle every day to the shops with it -I love camping too and I’ve found this channel and it’s a REVELATION, my advice is ignore the doctor - eat one meal a day - cut out sugar - reduce use of your motorbike - cycle and get the train with your Brompton to cities and cycle round them - camp more and ignore all the scares about your health - I envy your fitness . Excellent point about cycling slowly on rough rides with a Brompton- please please please do more videos of your Brompton - Your are bloody amazing! Rob

Haaha Rob, spot on:) Yes I can concur all good advice. Folk tend to over eat, I have been an intermittent faster in the past and a one meal a day too, but currently I do have a few snacks and probably 3 or 4 teaspoons of sugar in the coarse of a day.I know the sugar is bad, so will try and cut that out. The brompton is an amazing bike, I shall be out on mine later cycling to the shops:)

Sandy: when we were teenagers, before we had to work for a living, we would run to the woods every chance we got, and we played until the street lights came on, especially during the summer months. Then, circumstance forced us to settle down to jobs and bill payments and commitments that robbed our freedom. Our only motivation was a dream of retirement, where our childhood freedom could be restored. I agree with you, Sandy, camp when you feel the need, cycle as you please, hike where you wish to, make a knife or two, and if you happen to film it all, it ought to be a privilege for us to see it, not an entitlement. Be free, my friend. You've earned the right to it.

Sandy thank you for all you share. I especially liked you using your knife in this video. YES they are a work of art, but you proved they are a wonderful tool to be used and not simply displayed as a statist symbol. Thank you again.

I enjoy all your different choices you put on your channel, perhaps the radio thing, not so much. We are all different and it would be boring if we weren't. 😊👍

Thanks Brett, I've heard some horro stories about docs and meds but they also saved my life many years ago. I think a good diet and good exercise is almost a cure all
