Federer screwed the future of Wimbledon by losing here. He would've beaten isner in the SF and face Novak in 2018 a year earlier. Also the servebot semifinal between isner and Anderson wouldn't have happened or been so long that they would need to implement tiebreaker rules to shorten the matches. This then affects the Wimbledon 19 Final where Federer wouldn't have to have the 12 game all tiebreaker with Novak where Novak had all the momentum. It didn't look like fed was gonna drop serve had it carried on and he may have won the title.

Roger took the clay season off to be in top shape for Wimbledon, then loses. Rafa plays the clay season winning everything and has to be tired yet wins. I'm beginning to believe Rafael Nadal is the best player of all time. Now he's winning on grass again too along with slow red clay. Add to that Rafa is the Current US Open champion on hard courts. I'm a Roger Federer fan but you can't avoid facts that Nadal is special and may be the best of all time.

@pauljohnson60194 жыл бұрын
@@jacobschmidt2709 But I think he might have been tired, or possibly an unseen injury flared up, which he might have not mentioned? I don't get how he could drop his level so much, and let Anderson back in the match- but Novak he was not injured or fatigued, so I would argue this was a worse choke.

If you watch carefully you will see that Federer's wrist is injured. As the BBC comms (notably Boris Becker) stated, Roger's fh was weaker than usual right from the start. But this takes nothing from Anderson who played in the zone so strongly for the later part of the match, and changed his tactics effectively to attack Roger's temporary weakness and by set 5, Anderson was so confident that it proved impossible for Roger to break him even though himself playing better than in the previous 2 sets. What a shame Anderson couldn't win the final as well...

To everyone saying that Roger is done, Roger is going downhill, will never win a slam again, etc because of this loss: You all seem to be forgetting that this is a man who has won 3 titles this year, one of them being a slam. You're talking about a guy who came back from 6 months of injury and won the AO. Every match that Federer loses doesn't indicate that he's about to retire or has suddenly become bad at tennis, despite the fact that the comments sections of all these videos seem to scream that every time--and of course, Roger proves these claims wrong every time. Don't try to predict whether he'll be in another GS final, face Nadal again--you can't predict things like that. We're talking about some of the best players ever to grace the tennis scene, so why the fake confidence in these claims? Congrats to Kevin Anderson on a fantastic win today, to Isner and Rafa on amazing wins, to Djokovic for a dominant defeat. Nothing can be taken away from those guys. Let's all just sit back and enjoy the tennis, and enjoy the fact that we are able to witness players like Roger, Rafa, Novak, Delpo, and Anderson play at such a high level and put on such an entertaining show.

@KeepCalmAndTravel6 жыл бұрын
We should all see the reality in here: 2017 was a great year for him, definitely, at his age, the stop helped him, and that's a fact so ... good for him. (I'm a Rafa fan and oh boy I was so gutted for the AO 2017 but in the end, the winner deserved it). Now... fast forward 2018. It's not the same Federer,. I won't go into many details (which I know for sure and you are free to believe me or not) but kudos to him for reaching the final of course, but THAT final was definitely custom made by the organizers to help Federer win AS MUCH AS THEY COULD (LEGALLY AND ILLEGALLY) And that's a shame really because it put a black cloud over that victory that Federer might have won without the aforementioned help. And no, I'm not talking about playing only night matches, that's a favor the organizers grant to the top guys, not only to Federer. As I said, I can't say much about this and I won't. After that, he only played secondary tournaments for the glory of being the oldest n.1 in history, fair enough, I can understand that, but the loss in Miami and also IW were already warning signs. He even took off (no judging!) 2 months during the clay season to prepare for Wimbledon. He was playing much better than in Halle and Stuttgart but he didn't really face a dangerous opponent and his technique and experience helped him winning in straight sets. And now this. He is not getting any younger, and he knows his time is running out. It was foolish when people said he was done in the past of course but now... it's more likely. Even as a Nadal fan, I don't think /egoistically speaking) that this would be a good thing for Rafa. He needs challenges and removing one of the biggest of his career will have its consequences. So, for all Federer fans, this is the reality. Also for Rafa fans like me. He is younger allright, but his body is so damaged that if they put an xray of him and Federer's in front of a doctor who doesn't know who the xrays are, he would pont out Rafa as the most compromised one. So We can expect him to play at high levels, injury avoided, for not loger than a couple of years. It hurts, I know, but let's not get blinded by our love for them. Age and body damage takes its tall, for everyone. They are not superhuman. Get ready to ay goodbye to him pretty soon....

It's great that there's a change and I agree with some that winning doesn't have to be one sided, but don't blame fed, Nadal, or djoker for that. If the other players want a change at the top then they gotta work for it and earn it. Anderson showed that here and that's why he came out victorious. If the other players keep getting outclassed by the big 3 then no one here should complain about one sided wins and that no change at the top is happening. It's not any of the big 3's problem. They're in it for the win as well. As for the discussions about why fed is the goat, well it's not just the numbers, it's the details behind those numbers. Fed has shown higher versatility than any other player on tour. Nadal may have 17 GS, but the fat majority has been from just one GS while Fed's has been from 3 GS. That doesn't even factor into things such as weeks at number 1 or even the multiple wins at the year end WTF, etc.
