Yes, this is to enable Win11 Auto HDR for unsupported applications. To simply turn ON HDR is SDR HDR, while Win11 AutoHDR isn't affected by the SDR HDR brightness slider

Been watching your videos since getting an oled ultra wide, really helped me understand it. Been a long time reshade user so I usually just go with that over special k or windows auto hdr. I’m not sure if you’re aware or I missed it in one of your videos, but lilium has an updated fork of the original majorpainthecactus add on. It supports scRGB instead of HDR10. My understanding is this retains the original 16 bit data from the game (depending on the engine) before its compressed for SDR, so you can start off with that instead of remapping SDR back to HDR10. Lemme know if that’s incorrect, or if you’ve been using the fork this whole time. I was assuming you were using the original majorpain add on because you use the HDR10 CSP override instead of scRGB. I haven’t messed with it too much yet because I had everything set up for the original add on using HDR10 but it appears this will be better for monitors with lower brightness than TVs due to retaining more color information. For your C1 HDR10 may be better

I no longer use FTDA-16 because that was to correct the Near black Gamma issue that this new ICC profile is fixing. However, for Native HDR, just use the HDR calibration app profile and the Lilium shaders to fix it. This ICC profile will mess Native HDR, and the HDR analysis tool won't see it

I really want this to work on Chrome but it won't for me. It will work on everything except when a video is playing on most of the screen. If I don't fullscreen the video and click on my account icon at the top right on youtube, so the acount menu pops open, then the video which plays behind it will go into Auto HDR and it looks great. So I can see it does work, just not in fullscreen or without something else open over it in chrome (like that menu, very wierdly). I have hardware acceleration turned on like you suggested, but it still doesn't want to work. Any suggestions?

Any idea how much motion blur 8.3ms and 6.94ms(from 144fps) reduces from 16ms, percentage wise? I always assumed 8.3ms reduces nearly 50% of OLED motion blur since it's almost half of 16ms.

OLEDS closely follow the Blur Busters Law because the GtG is ideal for the refresh rate. The motion clarity improvement is exactly 2x if you cut the persistence in half.

Man, I'm itching to find out what 2024's QD-OLED's have in store for us as far as 60hz BFI is concerned. The same 8.3ms BFI would be a big disapointment, especially with 30ms of lag like the S90C & S95C, which makes the setting practically useless. LG G3's 60hz BFI according to you has 16.6ms of lag which is excellementby comparison and much higher SDR brightness than what the C1's is delivering. It's just a bummer that i'd have to settle with WOLED color Vs Quantum dot, putting aside the G3's crazy high sticker price. I think I'll just hold off for now, stick with the C1 and see what comes out in 2024 spring. I want much higher SDR Brightness(More than the G3) and lower motion persistence. 3ms or less, and no more! :P

For example, Alan Wake 2, RE4 Remake (not alot), Cyberpunk all have raised blacks and need fixing. And when you say "when HDR is ON", well HDR is on 100% of the time on the TV as you need to turn that on in order for games to use HDR, otherwise, games think the display doesnt have HDR. I just want to fix all my games with raised blacks with one setting and if that means keeping the SDR ICC profile on at all times, that is fine. But I think I am confusing the two things here, Auto HDR and HDR fix for raised blacks, or are they one and the same thing.

Lastly, if you use the 400 nits ICC profile, don't you have to set the max peak brightness of your tv to 400 nits in some hidden LG setting as well? I remember seeing that in one of your videos. I have a C9. I think you should make a video explaining Auto HDR force tool and the Raised black levels fix with ICC profile at the same time. Otherwise there's a lof of moving parts here. In Windows 10, I'm encountering a similar issue when playing a game with native HDR. After alt-tabbing and returning to the game, it appears dimmer and remains so, affecting both the game and the desktop. However, upon opening the HDR window, the desktop no longer appears dimmed, though the game remains unaffected. If I close and reopen the game, the dimming problem disappears, unless I alt-tab again. I'm not using auto HDR primarily because I'm unsure if it's compatible with Windows 10.

Honestly i've tried this I like it but I feel like using Special K using raw frame buffer then using Reshade turn on Pumbo Auto-HDR gets you incredible results.

If you want to use auto HDR, and not the games native HDR then yes. You need your content base to be SDR for it to work.

Whenever I try to use the program nothing happens neither for games or for google. I've tried just putting the name of the executable, then the name plus .exe, and lastly with the entire executable path but nothing happens. Though when I try again with either option it acknowledges that it 'found an existing key for game' which means that it should have done something, but there's no changes. Can someone help because I don't know if I am just doing something wrong or if there's another issue at play.

I turned on hardware acceleration, changed the setting in the Nvidia Control panel, tried it on different games and Opera Gx other than Google, tried different ways of inputting the listed directory including what you've advised, but nothing seems to get it to work even with the Auto HDR box turned on. I'm on an Omen 16 connected to the Alienware AW3423DW monitor through DisplayPort, so I don't know if that could be the reason.

I can't wait for windows to handle hdr correctly without doing all this. How can Android be seamless hdr and windows hdr is a disaster. It ruins your entire windows desktop to use hdr everything looks dim and washed out, half the time hdr content looks that way too it's so much ball busting to get it right. You you ask me about best settings what do you mean? Accurate SDR settings? That might not look great to you like it doesn't to me, if you're looking for juiced up SDR better use HDR, I've shared many ways to get HDR working to the point where I never have to use SDR for anything

Accurate SDR settings depend on the content Gamma, some games tell you 2.2 and allow you too change. If you use 2.2 on the game and TV, that should look the same as 2.4 on the Game and TV or BT1886. For Accurate colors use Color Gammut Auto detect Warm 50 and try the Color Temperature Meter app to fix the white balance if it looks green move it slightly towards Magenta

@@plasmatvforgaming9648 , thank you for the info Ariel we really appreciate your hard work , the reason I chose (MPC-HC) is that I read on Linustechtips forum that MPC-HC can play 120fps high fram rate videos but haven’t tested it yet , I used svfi (squirrel rife video frame interpolation ) to convert 30 and 60 fps videos to 120 fps then I copied those video files to an external hard drive that I plugged into my lg c9 usb port and it played them fine but couldn’t find a way to know if it plays them at 120 or 60 since the videos I chose were game trailers that didn’t have very fast movement in them , my old laptop just have an hdmi 1.4a which doesn’t support hdr output , I just wanted to know that if I upgraded one day to a desktop with an hdmi 2.1 gpu , is there a way to play 30fps sdr videos at 120fps using svfi and then using your method to play them in hdr as well , I also read about SVP (smooth video project) which can play 120 fps at 1080p but you need an rtx 4090 for that , I don’t know if potplayer can play 120 fps videos or not, keep up the great content !

hmm i applied the 400 nits profile on my lg 27gp850 (i know it's not a real hdr display but still, games look better with it enabled, more punchy colors etc) and everything looks way darker and bad compared to my hdr app calibrated profile (sdr to hdr luminance set at 76 on windows hdr settings) so yeah, not good on my end

No matter what i do auto HDR will not work on Chrome. Ive reset my PC atleast 10 times now and have run the EXE multiple times. You were saying it was going in and out at first but for me Auto HDR will not activate at all.

there is a different between hdr and cranking up the brightnes even for an oled force auto hdr requires maxing out the sdr content brightness slider in windows 11 settings to take effect this alone is more then enough do destroy the image entirely in any sdr content u watch then if u used Fullscreen auto hdr force will kick in over brightening the already washed out dull image making every thing even worse

The SDR HDR slider has no impact over Auto HDR or Native HDR, it only affects SDR content. Maxing out the SDR HDR slider and using the ICC profile I shared and with display tone mapping can look as good as Auto HDR and much better than SDR even with the brightness max out.

Shouldn"t we be blaming MS for the HDR issues in Cyberpunk? Is most likely their fault for the wrong gamma values. I mean the whole fact you need to download proper ICC profiles and then add them into the HDR calibration app shows that something isn't right. I just have a real hard time believing that one of the most graphic demanding games ever made, and intensive considering it's tech somehow fucked up their HDR implementation still to this day after all the updates and all the videos of people talking about it, like you and HDTV test. Someone posted on another video of yours about how people are so fixated on this "Perfect Black" ...but in reality in a place like Cyberpunk where in the hell would you ever really get pitch black areas? There are 1000's upon 1000's of Neon LED light everywhere.

AutoHDR produces HDR like experience. Its 'basically' a shader. But if it is better than most of the native HDR implementations... something needs to be changed in the way we produce content (games, movies, pictures..). I always compare nowadays, and always end up using lilium shader toolset + some form of hdr shader + specialk(VRR), to get most out of my display. But for the people who don't want to tinker & multiplayer games.. this is the way.
