A few little things. The key style Warn connection is going to be one of the strongest on the market honestly. Yours is the first I have seen with the key in the wrong position, that is unfortunate. I would revisit it again with a proper install in the future. It will be dang near the breaking strength of the rope with no wraps on the drum. Sometimes it is really nice not burning up 10' of line by maintaining X many wraps on the drum. On the roller fairlead ( the temporarily used version ), the risk has always been that the line slacks with gravity and gets caught under the 'wing' for the side roller ( and the bolt/nut ). This isn't uncommon when trying to winch the vehicle back onto the road when it is tipped out with the slope. I've even had it happen with wire rope....it is just more common with synthetic because it is more flexible. It has just always been an issue with that design. Cheers. Keep up the good work.

I've heard that winch rope should be spooled on with a bit of a load on the rope. Is that not the case?

Yes! The first time with new rope, absolutely. We will take this one out and give a good stretch after all it has been through. I should have mentioned that. Do note, from the video on top 5 winch tips, that I pull ALL of my usable rope out every time since we don't know what condition it may have been left in last time! Thanks for the comment!

Pretty sure that damage is the result of an instillation error. That wedge shouldn’t be sticking out at all. You should probably have made that more clear in the video.

Agreed. Not sure how that install happened, but obviously, we needed to fix it. I don't like to place blame on whoever installed or used it as such, but I wanted to show how to fix the problem. I am not a fan of most manufacturer rope mounts, so almost always revert to the bight as shown via the Safe Xtract method. Thanks for watching and your feedback! Keep it coming!

@@jeepschool I've found the Red Winches Plasma Lock to be a brilliant method of attaching the rope, leaving no sharp edges. Furthermore, its design means that you cannot pull too much rope off the drum, as it leaves 8-10 wraps on the drum at all times (depending on the diameter of your rope).
