I appreciate you using the proper gel. Doing a denim test and testing in both a pistol and rifle. It gives the data that is needed to evaluate the ammo.

As far I know that gel is more expensive then regular ones used in tests, so thank you! The results are very interesting, showing how good that ammo is for pistols and rifles. 12" deep and .30 after expansion is impressive actually! 👍
@BuckeyeBallistics2 ай бұрын
The upfront cost is a little less, but since this stuff expires quickly and the clear doesn't, this knox gel is more expensive in the long run for continued videos like I do. If you only wanted to do a few tests as a 1 time thing, the knox is cheaper.

This stuff is very impressive, I was very disappointed when I disccovered yesterday my local walmart doesnt carry it. I hate paying shipping for ammo. I like it because it has the big frag to about 5" for varmints/small game, and a deep penetrating core for "other" uses.
@BuckeyeBallistics Жыл бұрын
I'm going to have to go back and watch my fragmenting/segmenting .22lr compilation test, see if there is any difference between these and the others that do the same. Maybe the base carries further on these? Otherwise the others do the same thing, fragmenting from handguns as well in my experience. Winchester is just the first to slap the "for pistols" on the side of the box if so...
@Valorius Жыл бұрын
@@BuckeyeBallistics most of the other ones, based on the tests ive seen, dont have the central core that penetrates deeply. The break into 3 segments that penetrate 3-5". Whereas Silvertip has that central core plus the 3 fragmenting segments. Silvertip's ballistics are just meh, but the effect sure is impressive.
@BuckeyeBallistics Жыл бұрын
Good point, I do recall that now that you mention it- the CCI's all do that for example. But I think I had at least one "fragmenting" load in there that had a base carry through because only the tip fragmented much like this Silvertip. I'm gonna go watch it now and update this comment after... * Edit * 3 of the 5 in said video had bases that penetrated 10"-11" from a rifle, pistol was not used.

Pardon my ignorance but what's the difference between this gel vs. the clear gel that Tools and Targets uses ? I appreciate your time spent in responding, thanks n' God bless
@grahamohea2424 Жыл бұрын
This gel is made from organic gelatin powder and water. The Clear Ballistics is synthetic, is silicon based, and doesn't use water. The FBI standards were made using organic gel, but for most intents and purposes, the Clear Ballistics gel is a close enough approximation. KZbinrs generally like Clear Ballistics better because it is a lot more photogenic (the bullets and damage is easier to see), is easier to work with (not temperature sensitive and doesn't require calibration), and is more reusable, but it is more expensive and suffers from problems like bounce back that organic gel doesn't have.

It's a .22 so you're not fighting recoil. Face shots is what you want in my opinion. aim small miss small
@BrokenBarBox6 ай бұрын
The reality is the head is not only small, but can move the quickest, making it a difficult target. Obviously if the target is within 6 feet or so, a face shot might be viable, but past that distance, most people would struggle to hit a small target very quickly

Just a reminder, the human heart is about 5" deep in the average adult male's chest. Those fragments are definitely getting deep enough to be problematic. Especially from the rifle.
@BuckeyeBallistics Жыл бұрын
As long as a rib bone doesn't get in the way. Even then, base should carry deep enough for frontal shots.
@Valorius Жыл бұрын
@@BuckeyeBallistics The hope would be that not all 3 would hit a rib, I suppose. This round is basically the .22LR version of that RIP stuff.
@915maybe5 Жыл бұрын
The attacker you face may not present you with a squared up target. Most likely will be in motion, or angled towards you. Therefore the FBI 12" minimum. Those bones just always happen to get in the way. Close up head shots are the best, the target doesn't change in size much no matter the position, and are 90 percent fatal with one shot, regardless of caliber.
@Valorius Жыл бұрын
@@915maybe5 We know.
@bfg1836 Жыл бұрын
@@915maybe5the FBI standards use worst case scenario, shot going from upper right shoulder and still able to reach the heart. Most adult males have a chest measurement at the heart 8 to 10 inches front to back. They also assume only one hit. I’ve got an LCP .22 that I can shoot like a laser beam as fast as I can pull the trigger at 7 yards. Normally I carry a 9mm, but when I carry that .22 I have no doubt I can force a break in contact with anyone who wants my car or wallet.

With these small calibers your goal should be as much penetration as possible so 40 grain round nose would be your best bet in a self defense situation. I bet with that both guns could clear a single gel block
@BuckeyeBallistics Жыл бұрын
I have found a few that expand and still penetrate into the second block. But honestly I think the flat nose Interceptor would be better than anything else round nose, as it will still penetrate far but that blunt nose will do more damage (plus the extra velocity).

@BuckeyeBallistics yea I love the interceptor. I feel the most kick out of those when shooting them out of my tx22 definitely the most powerful 22lr round I've shot based off of the recoil felt!
