We always visit the Badlands Ranch Store a few miles up the road from the main entrance. They have a prairie dog farm and you can feed them for a couple bucks, cool stop when you’re out there.

Heading East from Wall Drug….did you manage to stop at Al’s Oasis near Chamberlin SD? Great place for homemade cinnamon ice cream and hot Dutch apple pie! As you are near Kentucky a visit to Mammoth Cave National Park may be worth your time if you haven’t been there yet. Glad you had a great vacation visiting us here in the west. Cheers

I did not stop there, but I will keep a note to check out Al’s if I am ever back out in SD! And I have been to Mammoth Cave, it was great!! Thank you!

got a trip booked for Badlands, Custer etc. in about 6 weeks. I'm hoping to get alot of hiking in and to have decent temps. Coming from Alabama so going to hit you with a ROLL TIDE!

Ohh yes that sounds like it will be a good time of year weather-wise. Custer was fine when I went, but it was just a little too hot for Badlands. The one thing to our advantage is it is much drier than the extreme humidity we are used to here in the south. And as a response, I have nothing else to say except another Go Vols! Lol
