There's a beauty of a day to start, but doesn't take long for the clouds to swoop in when in the highlands. One awesome area though!

Done the minffordd path a couple of years ago up to cadair. Saw my first ever cloud inversion when we were at the top and went across to mynydd moel while we were up there. Came down exactly the same way you did but the path wasn’t built so it was a struggle! Easily my favourite mountain, great to see it again 👌🏻👌🏻

It's a great mountain. For me it's a toss up between Cadiar Idris and Blencathra. Cheers Darren.

Cheers Roger Enjoyed the chat. I camped close to where you did last year on my Cambrian way journey, such a lovely area I’m very fond of. It’s a great walk going the other way south to Dinas although there are a couple of severely steep bits. Yes we did that climb up after a long day in the evening and really gave me jelly legs I was glad to stop. Kind regards 👍

Thanks Dave. I've still got a lot of Wales to explore yet. Cambrian Way is quite a thing, well done!

Nice camp 👍🏻 i watched an interview recently with dan Durston on KZbin, he said on the latest x mids, he has reverted back to the early line locks, he said he changed them mid run because he found some that were a lot stronger, but has gone back to the older type as he never had any breakages reported, maybe thats where the problem of slipping line locks comes from. Ive got last years lighter green model with a black ground sheet and haven't had any problems with line slippage, in fact it can be a bit hard adjusting them if anything, especially if i get the cords twisted.

Yes, 100% that. The latest ones are standard lineloks 3's, the previous ones were smaller. I had one of the smaller ones on my previous fly and as you say hard to use sometimes but no slipping.

What a splendid spot for a camp Roger. I'd imagine the crowds heading up Cadair Idris and missing out on that tremendous spot. 😎

Yeas Chris, it pays to know the area doesn't it. I'll need to go back when there's a bit more of a view.

I enjoyed that, many thanks. I think a lot of XMid owners are replacing the cord for thicker ones.

Yea it seems a problem on the corners I swapped mine not sure what the original diameter guy lines are but I've put 2mm msr guy line on not had it tested in any wind yet tho so not sure if it as worked

This is a new flysheet, one of the darker green ones. My previous lighter green! one had smaller lineloks on it, never had a problem with those. Thanks for watching. ATB, Roger

It seems a common problem with the corner guys slipping I know solo Sarah b had the same problem and did the same thing as you did I swapped all the guy lines on mine but had no wind on the tent to see if it helps

I Dutchwaregear sell lineloks with V cut so I might try to add such a V cut to one corner to see if that works. It's definitely a flaw in the design

Just taken delivery of my xmid Roger, looking forward to getting out in it. How do you rate the Tensor mat? And is it the wide one. Not a big fan of the line locks either I find they also lock up! Price to pay for UL gear I guess, keep up the good work.
@thewanderingforester6 ай бұрын
I have the long wide Tensor. I find it ok and quite comfortable though to be honest I've nothing to compare it as I've not had any others since I restarted wild camping. I'll need to do something about the lineloks!

Worth banging an email off to Dan the man I reckon, seems the sort of bloke/firm that would appreciate it

The plane was an RAF A400m Atlas. A huge aircraft dwarfed by the mountains.

Ah - that makes sense. Thanks Pete.

Ps nice video too Roger. I usually double peg in my Tarpstar 1 if there’s a risk of the wind getting up. PPS The second aircraft was probably an F35 judging by the tail configuration. Sorry I’m from an Royal Air Force family 😂

What tent mate?
@thewanderingforester6 ай бұрын
It's a Durston XMid 1P Solid. I've had Xmids for over a year, but I messed up the original flysheet by storing it damp, so the flysheet is new.
