exactly. im working huge storms up here in the buffalo area. ive sold over 2.6 million in insurance alone (myself as a salesman). the majority of the companies up here don't have an idea about the insurance game or get too frustrated to process it. Plus, the highest deductible ive seen this year was for $1,600 (majority are $500 or $1,000) and im dealing with a few $250's. its basically order taking at this point.

I love you. I don't watch TV. I work long days, do my paperwork, mix a drink and watch KZbin. I'm pretty damn good at the trades, but I suck as a businessman. Either some piece of shit roofing outfit or some insurance company is going to off your ass. (I hope that is a joke) I watch KZbin because as good as I am, there's always someone smarter, a new product, a new shortcut (that doesn't cheat the customer) or a new technique that I can make a little more money or give my customers a better job a little bit cheaper. So in other words I watch KZbin hoping to find YOU. There is a tile guy Sal Diblasi who is for real, Essential Craftsman, Reg Coates, Sherbrooke Tree Service, a very few others, and now YOU. I've done enough roofing and flood damage with insurance payouts. I've turned down offers to specialize in insurance work. If I'd of seen your videos years ago I'd be retired now. Thank you for being as honest as you are and for being willing to share in your success. You are one hell of a man. I can see the pride in your work when you talk about it. I always tell my crew that we don't get paid to do a bath remodel or replace a roof, we get paid to put a smile on our customer's faces. Long as we do that we always will have work. So far that's been true. I also make my guys understand we leave things better than we find them. I don't care if the neighbors dog is taking crap in my customers yard, we clean that up to when we clean up at the end of each day. And I always try to give the customer something extra for no charge. Don't even mention it to them. See how many referrals that gets you. Like I said, I love you Bro. You're one of a kind. Keep making videos and stay as honest and like I wish my guys would be- stay curious. m

Hey Eric, your spot on. I have been a cat adjuster for 27 years. It does vary from one carrier to the next. however. Some want to fight to keep every dime, others want it repaired as if it was their own house. It is funny because most carriers use an ISO policy which is close to identical to the others. Then there are different policies within every company. I am going to retire in a year and thought about doing roofing sales. Knowing the policies and major company OGs will really help dealing with those day-um adjusters. Peace

Eric, I do a lot of hail/wind insurance work and supplemental as well down south. I was surprised to see that you did temporary repairs. On a roof that I feel confident will be approved by adjuster but needs repairs in meantime, I typically use a tarp and here is why. I've seen adjusters consider repairs as mitigated damages and will then possibly deny claim altogether. Being that a homeowner is required to mitigate damages per their policy, I tarp over the areas (after agent or insurance company is made aware and approves tarping) because then adjuster can still see damage when they arrive. Not only that, but anything beneath tarp then has to be replaced. This is especially nice when you have to go over a hip/ridge because then you can get the entire other side. Insurance then pays claim plus supplemental and O&P, and then also will cover your fee for tarps.

Have done 748 installs for lowes this year alone plus our work outside of lowes. We install for 7 stores. That makes it easy to keep good crews and if a storm hits in our town or near by I have plenty of crews on hand to take on lots of storm damage when it hits. Anyways man I enjoy your videos. Great information! I am getting a second inspection Friday because the first inspector missed the temporary shingle replacement in front. They sent me a nice check for the back of my house and the inside damage ( I fixing that myself cause that is my trade). I did a video walk through with in house adjuster so I believe I won't have any problems on the front side. I have 4 missing or or broken shingles in front, my bathroom vent got blown/torn off and I had to temporarily replace, and found some shingles where the wind tore over the nail. Also found like 3 obvious creased shingles. Do you think I will get covered in your opinion ( that's just what I found, my roofing contractor going to be here on this inspection to make sure I didn't miss anything and the adjuster gets everything documented). In short, The have already agree to pay for back over 8-10 shingles torn or missing. So my thoughts are that is 50% and time you add in front damage I will be well over 60% total portion damage. I also have few pieces of sheathing to replace and one rafter to bring to code. From what I understand they will reimburse under supplemental at the end. Lastly, it's November and I am Tennessee, at what temperature do you put a roof on. I know you have to do something to heat those shingles up in cold weather, right? Thanks for any information. p.s I have a policy where I get my appreciation back after repairs are done.

I am wondering how you get the insurance company to replace the wood as they only pay for sudden occurrence. Soft and spongy wood is generally a maintenance issue. I see them paying for a piece of wood here or there where there is a leak or storm created opening but I have never known them to pay for all plywood on a roof. How do you get this paid?

I did not see on the insurance work scope where the insurance was paying for all the decking you said you were putting on the home. I have not been able to get insurance to pay for that as they say its not storm related so the customers has to come out of pocket. Rarely do we receive O&P. Insurance tells us that its based on complexity, not trades and if they do not deem it complex enough, too bad for the contractor... How do you get them to pay?
