Wind on the Beam to Poole via Southampton

We visit Southampton Town Quay Marina and the following day, with the wind from the North, have a glorious sail to Poole. After what seems like months of strong Westerlies, a wind with some North in it needed to be used.
Come with us as we sail down Southampton Water, past Hythe Marina, the historic Hythe pier and the pier railway, dating back to 1922.
Have a quick look at the oil tankers on the Fawley oil refinery dock and then round Calshot Spit, Westwards to Hurst narrows. Then through the North Channel and enjoy a fast reach to Poole Harbour.
This is what sailboat cruising should always be like.

Hi Tony, curiously I hadn't thought about it until we were going past the pier and I thought, "I wonder if the railway still runs" and there it was. When I was about 14 we used to catch a bus to Hythe and then the ferry to Southampton. You paid separately for the train so we had to walk out to the ferry along the pier but on the way back after going to the cinema or similar in Southampton, Dad stumped up the train fare and we travelled by train in the dark, Magical, Lovely to see it's still going. Maybe take a ride on it later and do a video of that.
