It depends on the type of cord and the type of jacket it has. I used to roll mine up on my arm and some are fine but some are really bad and always have their own memory

Thats because they are old and of good quality. The cord that's all twisted is probably my the cheapest Chinese cord you can find.

The way he winds its is commonly referred to as the "roadie wrap" used by stage hands setting up and tearing down cables quickly and commonly. It's a normal loop then a backwards loop to take out tension on the cord and makes it so you can easily hold one end and chuck it to fully unwind.

That’ll make twist anyway. You alternatively twist a cord the other way

That twisting is from the cord getting rotated and stretched while out in the heat, then cooling off and doing it all over again.

I have been using the same 25' extension cord for about 8 years now I roll it up how you did it the 2nd time every time in over a long period it will still grow a twist in it and their not a cheap cord.
@coolstreetman
@coolstreetman 3 жыл бұрын
Yea you can do it over your shoulder without twisting it. You counter rotate the cord as you wrap it around your elbow. Worked in a machine shop for a decade now. We have had many arguements about this at work. When you grip the cord tightly as you are winding it around your elbow is whats causing the twisting

Finally someone who knows how to roll up a cord. I hate when people say the military way is right. I do the elbow thing with my small cords. Cause I don't give a shirt.
@RuinedTemple
@RuinedTemple 3 жыл бұрын
I assume the “military way” is called such because in the military it can be advantageous to be able to do particular things with incredible swiftness? Yeah, at home I think I’d rather take my time so I can extend the lifespan of my cords (especially the spendy ones) & not deal with the twisty pain in the butt bundle.
