the progression of this song is incredible it is like every minute I'm being introduced to another song that is perfectly weaved into another that I can't really tell where one ends and the other begins I only sort of notice half way through if that makes any sense

A sense of compulsion is evoked in this track, a passage deep and winding into a world of caves and strange echoes beneath the earth. The track evolves an excellent progression of space, moving from narrow and sparsely-outlined tunnels into great amphitheatres of stalagmites and stone. After having not listened to a Rebecca Tripp remix for a week or so, I'm glad I listened to this one; a novel expansion of a great track that never forgets its fundamental theme, in this case of musty, voluminous earth.

NICEEEE!!!! This reminds me of Sorrowing Meadows from Dust: An Elysian Tale This dungeon gave me the spooks when I was younger. I feel like good games seems to have "that one scary thing" that really makes the world feel like it has some sense of real evil in it to contrast with the real good.
@RebeccaETripp7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I feel you. I think that really started with OoT though! I remember reading or hearing about an interview at some point with one of the developers of OoT (possibly Miyamoto himself, but not necessarily) saying that the Shadow Temple was conceived of because they wanted a dungeon that really stood out from the others and felt unique. Jabu Jabu, I imagine, also exists for that reason. Though in the older games, there were always darker areas (the Skull Woods, Death Mountain, etc), the creepiness/evil was always sort of evenly spread across the land. In OoT, MM, WW, TP (and I think some others) you have the Shadow Temple, Ikana Valley, the Earth Temple and the Arbiter's Grounds. These places are a cut above! Honorable mention to the underside of the Ancient Cistern in SS!

I love this song, it's been my favorite! I listen to this a lot! I just started out in animation and this really helped me establish the mood in the main temple in my short! ^.^ My favorite is 2:10 to 2:25, always love hearing that part!
@RebeccaETripp9 жыл бұрын
+Suidokan91 That makes me really happy! Thanks. ^^ Can I see the animation when it's done? :O I'm curious what this inspired! There is actually a story behind this song which I haven't wanted to tell anybody before now. I wrote this on the day my cat died. I was as close to that guy as I am to my other family members (and every other human closest to me.) I was angry at the song for the next year, and even more angry at myself for writing it, and still haven't actually gone back and listened to it, as I felt like it was full of pain, and just awful. It's sort of comforting to think that this inspired someone else to create- it makes it feel like I was meant to write this piece, and maybe (as I had secretly hoped at the time) composing this was a healthy way to express myself.
@Suidokan919 жыл бұрын
I don't see why not, I'm hoping to been done by the end of next month! =) I can give you a little synopsis of it because I think you'll find it interesting. The main character has lost people in her life, as well as places she'd call home. As she grew up she never wanted to cope with it or let go of the past, so life has led her to a place between time and space, life and death (being the temple). This temple reflects the heart, and this is where she has to confront it. The interesting thing about the song that inspired me to design the color palette and overall feel of the temple is because I did sense a bit of sadness in it. Like, it's sad, but also wanting or trying to relieve something, so it felt right listening to it while I designed the temple. When I think about the temple it makes me think about the song. =) I'm sorry about your cat by the way, it's sad. :(

I dig your take on this, especially the more powerful parts, which kind of remind me of the Ghost in the Shell movies. It was always one of the more unique pieces in the series, comparative to the rest. Also, is that a little bit of OoT's Shadow Temple at around 2:40?
@RebeccaETripp10 жыл бұрын
MalachiteR There is definitely a correlation between them! So, in that sense, it's very likely that the Shadow Temple music inspired me! Although I wasn't directly thinking of that part, I have paid that part a lot of heed in the past!

I admit my first listen I wasn't really sold on it. Then I listened again, and I kind of "got" the emotion put into to. Still not fond of the first portion, but I feel like the song really comes into its own once the (assumedly) string parts come in. Now I'm listening again, and I think I can officially say I like it. I don't agree with all of it, but I think it's an important re-imagining.

They gave up on the series too soon I think. You're right Chrono series didn't get enough credit unlike its cousin. But if they do make a 3d remaster of Chrono Trigger I want Akira Toriyama to draw the characters for the game, like he did for the original snes game.
