When you are reversing, why do you have the rudder pointing in the opposite direction to the way you want the stern to turn? I know it won't respond with the same alacrity as an outboard but when reversing, shouldn't the rudder be pointing in the direction you want to go?

There is no steering in reverse. If you notice when the boat is in reverse the water is pushed forwards towards the bow, the opposite direction to the rudder. we have noticed no difference where ever the steering is pointed. We use forward propulsion to adjust position of bow if needed. Fun in wind... not lol

How do you pronounce the word "winding" in this context? Is it pronounced "win" ding or "wine" ding?

It is pronounced win-ding as the wind assists turning the boat. If blowing in the right direction.
