I can't even begin to imagine how unreal that must feel, looking out and knowing full well that everything around you is empty and stretching out for ever. That that glass is one of the millions of pieces all working together to keep that little bubble of air together. And looking at earth, the size, the billions and billions of people and animals and rocks, wow. I can't believe the awareness you get from being in that cupola doesn't make you dizzy!

They probably just watched too many International play station "How to" videos.... How to sleep in space. How to shave in space How to do your nails in space. How to poop in space. How to shampoo in space. How to masterbate in space. How to brush your teeth in space. How to clean up in space. All produced to entertain those with minimal intellect.. I'm sure if you or I watched them all we'd be thinking the same delusional thoughts.....

I think this new R1 robot to be launched soon is exactly the way we should be going, it looks amazing and will interest the public..you need to interest the public and excite them, for far to long space has been too clinically scientific, aimless..and boring..yet its the greatest adventure we have embarked on..its almost like the USA is giving up with it and letting others lead the way.

they say its 400km up. So it is thermosphere where temperatures are highly dependent on solar activity, and can rise to 2,000 °C (3,630 °F) while the pressure is very very low but how low ? Can you find out what is the air pressure in the Thermosphere ?

Timothy Marland there is no up and down in space because there is only Micro-Gravity.
@cray74
@cray74 12 жыл бұрын
Yes, it has to move. Gravity doesn't simply disappear in space, it drops off fairly slowly compared to the altitudes manned spacecraft frequent. The simple version is that the station has to move very fast in a circle around Earth so centripetal force equals gravity. If the station stays still over a point on the ground *at its altitude*, it will be affected by nearly the same amount of gravity as is present on the ground and will plummet.

technically, yes, it's possible for the station to be stopped relative to the earth, it's called Geo-stationary orbit, Only thing is that it's a rather higher and more tricky orbit to keep than the ISS's rather quick and lower orbit. takes more fuel to reach and to maintain.
