Window Regulator - Repair Stripped Crank Splines

Repair Stripped Crank Splines on an old Window Regulator. My window regulators had stripped splines that I needed to repair. Here I decided to repair my old ones instead of buying repops or other old ones.
I do think if you had a metal lathe you could make some perfect welding by holding both ends of the shafts when you weld. Then you could machine them perfectly smooth instead of hand holding with a bench grinder. But in an old vehicle restoration, this is not likely the only thing you improvise in the rebuild.

Nice work! I was thinking that if you center-drilled each shaft and put a pin into them for alignment, it might have helped keep straight when welding, unless the pin would warp from the heat.

Yes. Any assistance to hold them straight is a help. I didn’t even have a drill press so it may have been worse. A metal lathe would be best with both ends in a chuck. Sometimes I can buy things for cheep but I still want to try myself. Thanks for watching and for the comments.

Sure, but you can likely buy used ones close to you for 50 bucks or so
