If I have a 40 x 100 roll, let’s say the the 40 is the height and 100 is the width, is it ok to shrink it either horizontally or does it have to be vertically?

How heat rear window
@joudomsouk6 жыл бұрын
I’m sorry if this was answered before, but what is the advantage to shrinking film? Most DIYers and beginners won’t have a heat gun. Do I absolutely need to shrink the film?
@WindowTintingBusiness6 жыл бұрын
Yes shrinking is necessary to avoid fingers and to have a good install. Plus window tinting is NOT a DIY thing.

Can you do a video on how to cut rounded quarter windows like on a honda accord 2014? Trying to cut out the rounded part is what's challenging. Can't get a good round cut. Any tips would help, thanks. Very informative videos by the way!

What do you mean liner Side out, and film side in?
@gav68083 жыл бұрын
The film has a liner side and a tint side.So basically it has 3 layers the tint,glue and a backing sheet/liner side.

What’s the difference from doing outside the window or doing inside the window I watch you video and you put the tint outside and the guy who did mine put the tint inside of the truck
@WindowTintingBusiness6 жыл бұрын
I'm hand cutting the film on the outside. This is part one of a two part set, the second video is me installing the film and that goes on the inside. All window film goes on the inside.

hi.....greatings from jamaica, love your channel. I have a question, i see you move the tint sheet to the right 1/4 of an inch so you can push it under the casquet when you install it... What happen with the botom casquet...... how much you give the tint to push it under and when you estimate it and actually leave it? Thank you
@WindowTintingBusiness7 жыл бұрын
+Diego Cebrian so I shift the film to the side a 1/4 of an inch so it leaves you an 1/8 on both sides, this you know. Before I cut the top of the window I line the bottom of the film with the bottom seal tack it down and then cut the top of the glass. I do this because when I install the film I leave a 1/8 gap at the top of the glass so the bottom of the film that was in line w the weather strip is now shifted 1/8 lower eliminating any light gap but at the same time minimizing the amount of film I have to tuck at the bottom during install. Sometimes the inside weather strip is lower than the outside and doesn't need to be tucked at all. Some installers like to at least tuck the bottom a bit. If that's you then before you cut the top of the window instead of lining up the bottom of thr film w the seal you just pull it down a bit. Just keep in mind the further down you pull the more you have to tuck which makes the install harder. Hope this explanation helped!

when cutting against the glass, do you use any special angle or special blades so you dont scratch the glass?
@WindowTintingBusiness7 жыл бұрын
I use a NT red dot pro knife and I only use Olfa blades, specifically stainless steel blades. DO NOT USE Carbon blades (I believe the olfa carbon blades are Black in color). Carbon blades are too strong and too sharp, its very easy to score the glass w carbon blades. In regards to my angle I keep the back of the knife as low to the glass as possible with out dragging the knife (not the blade) against the film.

Question I have is how is the film large enough from top to bottom to get underneath the bottom gasket using this meathod? I find most vehicles, the inside sweep is at least a 1/4 inch below where you cut on the outside
@WindowTintingBusiness6 жыл бұрын
If the inside gasket is lower than the outside (like in a ford pickup) then you can always pull the film down after you line up both sides just before you cut the top edge. Its preference if you'd like the film to be tucked below the inside seal or not, some tinters just go below the outside and as long as you give it enough time to cure then you wont have a light gap.

what do you do if you are using a heath gun to get out the fingers and the keep comin back no matter how much you try get them out?
@WindowTintingBusiness7 жыл бұрын
+gerry nail 2 things will happen #1 it'll lay down flat #2 the film will melt. Make sure your hear gun is set at a high enough temp. And make sure you're shrinking in the correct direction.

Do you touch the glass when you cut with your blade, especially when doing the rounded corners? How do I avoid scratch marks?
@WindowTintingBusiness7 жыл бұрын
+Simon Rahn as long as you’re using a stainless steel blade, break off a fresh blade throughout and don’t use a lot of pressure (just enough to cut the film). You can still scratch the glass w a stainless blade but you have to use a lot of force. Avoid carbon blades, those are more sharp and a harder metal so it will scratch the glass.
