On its first fail of KB5050421 it said retry and I made the mistake of clicking that. The Windows Update screen disappeared and didn't come back so I ran the hide update program to clear it. When the Windows update screen came back. That update was still there, but pending install. For nearly an hour the .NET FRAMEWORK was at installing 0% and the security update still at downloading 5%. They have only just started rolling up the numbers. Did I mess up with that hide utility to try and deal with that KB5050411? It is gone 19:33 here in the UK and I have an early start. If it has not got to the reboot stage can I safely power down? BTW the Malicious Software Removal Tool kit update has not shown up in the update history. Numbers rolling up now, so will keep you posted. UPDATE: the .NET FRAMEWORK is now pending restart . The KB5050411 has shown up in my update history. No sign of the Malicious Software Removal Tool kit there. It was installing when I ran that hide program, trying to fix my laptop
