I am on Windows 10 and have no reason, or desire, to upgrade to Windows 11 at this point with all of it's issues. Why fix something that 's not broken. Windows 10 runs all of the programs I use, and it does it very well, thank you.

So a security company is telling people to move to a less secure version of Windows? As long as Recall is in Windows 11 (disabled or not) it is less secure than Windows 10, because a hacker/malware/virus could easily re-enable it and then use it to steal all your info.

Thanks for the Clarification. I thought it was $30 per Microsoft Account at First. Now I will probably invest in a Windows 11 Machine and maybe keep 1 Windows 10. It's early and I have a lot of thinking and Budgeting to go thru. I hope Microsoft looks at the Market Share. I really do.

I think you'll find a lot of companies who have a vested interest in Microsoft doing similar things leading up Win10 EOL. Mainly because if a user switches from Windows to Linux (or chrome OS for that matter), they may not also be purchasing their product unless they change to Win 11.

They can be just as pushy as they like. I hadn't even heard of ESET until a couple of weeks ago. One of my machines runs Windows 10 offline. I have absolutely no reason to want to change, and lots of reasons not to want to. That machine does exactly what I need it to. I use it for music and video production. It doesn't spy on me, generate telemetry, use my bandwidth for Microsoft's purposes, there are no forced Microsoft accounts, it will never have Copilot/Recall or other unwelcome "features" forced on it. My other two PCs which I use for more day to day activities are moving to Linux.

I can install Windows 11 if I choose; I have a 12th-generation CPU. But for now, I have no reason to. October 14th is still just over 10 months away.

yeah, I think I will just permanently offline the windows 10 desktop I have. Or maybe consider Bazzite OS or Linux Mint... My previous 2 laptops are already on some form of linux (Mint for the oldest. The 2nd one... I might tryout Bazzite OS on it, will see how...)

I have no desire to use Win 11, I don't even really like Win 10 as a home user. If I had my druthers we would still be on Win 7. None of our computers support Win 11 and as I said have no desire to install a less useful O/S. We are going to give 0patch a try. I'm dual booting Win 7 and Ubuntu on on old desktop and as least so far being careful where I go when using Win 7 have not had any problems.

I bought a new laptop last year. I will use Rufus to put Windows 11 on my old one. It has an SSD, extra RAM, and an extra drive.

I think this is the same Sanrio as people wondering what is going on with windows 12. I say (who cares at this point as long as your computer still gets security update from Microsoft and any other products that u use you are fine . In addition I’m not saying I don’t want windows 12 to happen I’m saying what’s the rush.

Windows 11 is less secure thanks to Recall. A hacker will come up with some malware that will re-enable that and steal all your info, if they haven't already created such malware.
