WINDOWS 10 | How to Reset PC with KEEP MY FILES and safe all Files, Folder & Drives

Hi quick question, i had only one partition in my laptop, so what if i installed apps and games outside program files (x86), meaning still in C drive but outside the program files / program files (x86) folders, would it be removed too although i choose "keep my files" when resetting pc? Or perhaps if i have some documents or data outside users folder, like again in a folder but i put it in for example C: \documents. Will those documents be removed too after I choose to reset windows with "keep my files" option?

Bro I have a question for you, last year i bought a laptop and it comes with Dos operation system after that i installed a window 10 version 1607( Anniversy update). Now my current window10 version is (1803). so finally my question is when i reset my pc and choose keep my file option it will roll back to previous version of window (1607) or still remains in 1803. please reply brother.

Hi... my Surface Book updated Windows 10 and after that it would not start Windows except for the diagnostics screen so I did the above wanting to keep all my desktop folders. I did not have any choice to save them to another volume beforehand as this reset is all I could get into. Now the laptop has reset and up comes Windows 10 but I cannot find any of the old desktop folders. I looked in the Windows.old folder under users but nothing there - which is kind of strange as I only have 32GB left out of my 256GB. So, any ideas where I could find my folders? They must be somewhere or else why do I only have such little space on the hard drive? Thanks for any help. Richard Jones

+Richard Jones hi! Sorry i really have no idea about Surface book. But i must say if it showing reserved volume, then your data is somewhere in the drive. I suggest not to make more experiments and take expert help and do not ask on internet. A professional who can look and solve its problem after go through your device. Another simple option is to try, make all the hidden folder/ features visible from Windows "Folder settings". It will start to show all hidden files and let you chose what to do with them. These settings open from the menu functions at the top of windows after you open "My PC" or other folder. I hope it will work. I would have fix problem but for this i needed to have your device. Try from hidden folder/ files, if still no positive response, take it to professional computer mechanic.

Ok so I bought my pc a while ago and it had windows 8 on it as default. I later upgraded to windows 10. But what happened last time i reset my pc completely, it changed back to windows 8 and i had a hard time getting it back to windows 10. Will this keep windows as it is, or will i have to reinstall it again?

Installed new version of Windows OS should not be affected, as after upgradation in ROM it can never roll back. But if it is affecting may be because of the saved setup of Windows 8 in Backup drive. Now company provide it by default in new PCs and does not provide seprate disc.

I am likely going to do it Friday as the creators update just rolled out and the broken registery is not letting it install. it failed every time. so it better fucking fix it. and since I got my PC, I've had major issues with the windows store. it is literally unusable. I can't update or download any apps what so ever, can't reset the store, cleared cache many times, can't re install, get error every time relating to repository, can't do anything and now today it just disappeared completely and when I search it up and click on it, a box half opens then closes instantly after. it is gone. and wsreset no longer works as it can't find it. start-up repair found nothing. bloody micro$hit. I hate windows. if I wasn't a gamer I wouldn't use it. what do you reccomend?

I installed a third party software, which further install a blue color crome browser and some other apps it own. And when i tried to uninstall them it didn't let me. A day later i noticed few functions stopped working including store and i was not able to install anything new. So i reset windows OS with 'keep my files', and it start to work as a fresh window. All the registry problems were gone. I faced this problem twice what you are suffering from and learn not to install unusual third party software specially in Windows 10. Its so easy to target and broke windows registry in windows 10. I recommend do not install 3rd party software for any kind of gaming or other support. Else you have to face this again & again and have to reset windows OS everytime. Problem is, all your installed software will be deleted this process and have to reinstall again. Also all the records achieve by you in games will be lost too every time. Follow the video to make it fix. By for future keep away from harmful apps. Only use original CDs or store for software. Gamers have to install other supporting software, which is actually not good for this OS. I believe there will be no such problems in Windows 7 if you still want to play games and have to install games & other supporting apps.

+demo idea hello friend! Please let me know which Windows Operating System you have? If it's Windows 8 or 10, sure your all the data will be safe as i showed in my video. Everytime i try to reset it, it works, but then midway, it stops at this blue screen telling me to set my keyboard layout to a specific language. I try to select but i cant control ANYTHING. My mouse wont work, but its on and plugged in. My keyboard wont work. And tberes no buttons on the computer to select things. Every tutorial i watch, they seem to reset it and it goes straight to their desktop screen after its done rebooting, mine doesnt, it just goes to that setup screen. Please help

Naven face such issue. Sorry can't help with this. If your PC is in warantee, you must visit the service centre and ask them to change your original windows. Make sure if your important data is safe.

Yah sure. You can update it now or later. Its the same thing as all the changes made in ROM for window updates. You should reset it first and then update.

Make sure to save your data from C Drive & on Desktop first. Yes reset may fix it, if important Windows files were not missing. If so, you can install fresh windows. But data should be safe first.

You can keep all your gaming files in any other Drive (but not C:/) with making seprate folders. But for this you have to reset windows with option 'Keep my files'. Keep my files will reset and effect only C Drive and desktop files. But if you choose remove everything, nothing will be safe. Another option is - you can upload your files on online drives such as Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.

+akash mahesh i am not sure what are you actually asking for. AMD driver have nothing any user defined settings. It is an application for graphics. All the settings come by default. When you reinstall it again, it will have its predefine settings. But still if you are talking about something else, i suggest you to take advice of someone else.

There can be issue with the windows backup file may be because of virus. Suggest you to take your PC/laptop to service center if you buy it with original windows. Or Install your own if the windows is not original. Make sure to take your all important files in external-drive.
