You can use the shorcut windows key + arrows to use the snapping feature faster, and you can use it to minimise individual windows as well.

Glad I found your channel - I've made the swap to Windows as a lot of my narrative design work needs windows (game dev plugins for implementing dialogue etc...) and I've struggled to find productivity videos on Windows, rather than MacOS.

I recently made the switch the other way around, from Windows to MacOS. It can take a while to get used to things, but if you take the time to learn all the differences with keyboard shortcuts and stuff, you'll be efficient in no time. 👍

The center align in windows 11 is good, but I wish we could put only the start button to the left, amd leave the rest of the taskbar in the center. Nice video by the way

Just one question I've had the option to upgrade to W11. Does the task bar permit a right 👉 click on say Word, Excel to display the recently used files 📂 and to pin 📍 your frequently used files! Someone said this has been removed. Could someone please verify.

Guess I have been doing a pretty good job on the Shane-o-meter. I could declutter the toolbar a bit more I guess, and remove the other icons and stuff, but it never distracts me anyway! I like using Alt-F4 to close application windows quickly.

@@shane.melaugh yes, when pasting text use CTRL+SHIFT+V to paste plain text without formatting which saves you from removing the existing formatting that carries over from the original, CTRL+Z to undo (useful when you just CTRL+V)

When you're using an internet browser there's also CTRL+1, CTRL+2, CTRL+3 and so on up 9 which lets you switch between the browser tabs. This only works up to 9 but it's good not to have 50 tabs open, right?

For some reason, I can watch any other youtube vid I want. Yours will not play.. just keep getting that spinning circle. My connections fine, my laptop is 2 days old, running like a top and all other vids work. hmmm.

I had the same on a video I was trying to watch yesterday. I could watch any other video, but not that specific one. I think this is some KZbin bug at the moment. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

KeePassXC is also a good open source password manager but it doesn't have cloud support.

typing the name of a app we want to open is still slower than pressing Windows button and just clicking on a conveniently placed tile. Why would I go typing??
@shane.melaugh
@shane.melaugh Жыл бұрын
You must either be very slow at typing (fix it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mXabf4x7d6iAkKM) or have Korean e-sports levels of mouse speed and leave burn marks on your mousepad every time you open an app.

Password managers unnecessarily take up ram, they are bad for low end machines, Browesers theselves offer good password managers, I used lastpass before, it was very annoying and sometimes buggy, I imported all passwords in chrome. With a google account, you can sync passwords on any PC for free and more securely, recently lastpass was hacked

Windows has the monopoly of the work desktop. Linux is for those who want to tinker with the innards of Mint etc. Me? I wanna be productive and not complain that buttons have changed. I will just suck it up, learn new ways to do things and be productive. I am saying this after a long and faultless install of W11. Better than the old days when it was 24 floppies just for Word. It will all pass within a few weeks after installation - it always does!

@@shane.melaugh And just for edification, I started my computing journey with Macs. Moved to Windows, then fell in love with Linux. I have been there for the past 40 years of this. Windows 11 is a shiteshow. Mac OS is so far from its origins that its painful to see someone shill for the brand. Apple and MS have both done nothing over the years but take away your ability to do as YOU wish with your hardware. And Apple's current moves do not negate that.
