Windows- Making Section

From an architectural note, this is definingly random! I am a simple auto tech but while retired, the header is designed into a building to hold the weight of the measured load and live load above it. As with any opening in the wall system of s structure, the load above have to be transferred to the foundation properly. The lintel in the window is a non-structural component, but the framing above called the header is. This explains the king stud and jack stuck to transferer the load. No dis-respect intended at all, with limits on income and the cost of products going up due to many factors, I was hoping to find a better design to employ triple glazed gas filled windows and build them my self of PVC or CPVC that will not rot and has a decent R-value. My house has 4 moving windows on the main floor. I can not replace the 3 stationary windows, but build the frames of something other than wood, that does rot and needs constant maintenance. Thats all.

The lintel, in this part of the world is a structural member that takes and transfers the load of the wall above an opening to the sides and, subsequently to the foundations below. In metal stud system with dry wall or balloon framing (predominantly used in the US and Europe), the header transfers the load to the frame and, subsequently to the foundation below. Traditionally, section is always vertical. And if horizontal, it is plan/ detailed plan.

I would have door part also, but it is the same, except that the sill will not be there and in place of that you will have the floor line at the base. Regards
