Why RME has the best windows audio drivers? Why can’t Windows be more audio production friendly like macOS in regards to how you must prepare the OS and still get issues? Maybe having a conversation with RME developers in how they make the best drivers might help get that driver part more friendly to production instead of the 20 things you must do to Windows for it to work best but still nowhere near macos.

RME drivers are also better than stock macOS drivers. They are recommended on all platforms, not just on Windows. Why? RME just knows how to make really efficient purpose-built audio drivers. They are great. I strongly disagree with the tweak lists people and many companies provide, many of which continue to share information from the Windows XP days. The massive lists of things people "have" to do is largely mythology, which is why I wrote the unofficial/official guide several years back. People who want to tweak it to the very last drop because that's their hobby are welcome to (just like those who do the same on macOS), but it is not required. On my own PCs, I have never done more than the most basic things (power plan, primarily) and have had great audio with all the DAWs I've used. Of course, if you purchase a very cheap laptop, then you often get what you pay for. But buy something in the same ballpark as what you get from Apple, like a Surface Laptop, and you'll have a better experience. If you buy a gamer-focused PC, then yes, you sometimes do have to fight with gaming-focused choices which go against real-time audio because they're optimizing for framerate or network throughput.

As to in-box low-latency audio drivers, which may be part of what you're getting at, you likely missed our announcements from Snapdragon Summit. devblogs.microsoft.com/windows-music-dev/making-music-on-windows/
