You should never run server OS'ses through VMWare, Always install them baremetal. And setup Virtual Machines and containers in the server.

It's also the reason it worked so slow.

Okay, no bloatwares, but it needs some trickery to skip the set password screen and it says it's an evaluation copy and the license is only valid for 180 days, which are not good. 🙄
@WinProsPersonalAccount5 ай бұрын
Yeah I agree
@Rayjacker5 ай бұрын
I mean the license can be activated until 2038 or "indefinitely" by KMS servers through MAS.

Honestly, that's not really a big deal. Just make sure to separate your OS drive from your main storage drive, and so long as you have some way to put everything back the way you like it with your apps and etc; it's just a matter of a quick reinstall every half a year. Which, frankly, probably isn't a terrible idea with Windows anyways. Sure, it can be inconvenient, but with how often Windows comes out with new versions lately, you're only going to be doing it about 4-6 times or so, before you upgrade, maybe. More times if longer, of course. And if that seems unreasonable, think back to the time you accidentally borked your OS somehow, and had to reinstall, only to do it again a different way some 4-6 months later, only to reinstall again. If it's never happened to you yet, congratulations. But yeah, this is a thing that happens for folk sometimes, even experienced folk. So really, it's not that big of a deal.

@ManuFortis5 ай бұрын
@@zsombor_99 I mean, you can literally automate the installation with answer files. After which point, you basically just get the process running at boot, then go make a sandwich and a coffee.

I've been using windows Server as a daily driver since Version 2016. While it does need some tricks to get everything to work, Gaming is absolutely possible and sometimes even has better performance when compared to default windows 10/11. Only downside is that VR doesn't work, or at least my headset isn't being recognized. Some controllers also used to not work, but most USB ones I've tried work.

Maybe, but you really shouldn't. Windows Server builds have major differences, from easy to fix ones like lack of support for audio & wifi, to issues installing GPU drivers, to deep-rooted kernel level changes, such as whereas the scheduler in the desktop versions of Windows is designed to optimise performance for the software youre directly interacting with (like games), on the Server version it's designed to prioritise background tasks over desktop apps. Also, Server defaults to using the 'Administrator' account, and unless you manually create your own account will open up your computer to security flaws.
