Saying that WSL was built in a collaboration with "Linux" is a gross misrepresentation of the truth. Wording it that way sounds like a deliberate attempt to make it look like WSL has some kind of backing by the Linux community - AND THAT IS NOT TRUE. None of the Linux kernel core developers have been involved, and nor has the vast majority of the Linux community. Only a couple of companies have had some involvement.

Microsoft and Linux love each other now. Microsoft is now a Platinum member of the Linux Foundation www.linuxfoundation.org/membership/members/ and through 2017 Microsoft was a top contributor to the Linux Kernel. So Linux already has Microsoft in it. -Jim

@@EmbarcaderoTech Microsoft loves Linux, for sure. Linux is at best indifferent to Microsoft. As long as they sign off their code as GPL, they're free to contribute like everyone else. Microsoft needs Linux, and needs to make it as easy as possible for people who are used to Linux to use their ever-changing OS to get work done. Linux does not need Microsoft.
