The Ranger front end is designed to create a bow wave that pushes the water away from the air intake and other vital components it is rated to go through 30 inches of water. But this only works if your are going 5 miles an hour or slower. When you went through you defeated the design by driving so fast and all that water was pushed up over the motor.

Just started following you after i picked up a 2022 ranger xlt sport. Loving the content, awesome to see you at wind rock where i usually like to mountain bike! Can’t wait to get back out there with the ranger as well. Great channel!!

Them alternators as so slow and stuffing water like that kills them so fast. Wheel going on trips like this bring a spare alternator for a quick trail fix.

Water is a lot of fun until you break something. Never hit deep water at full throttle. Enter it easy and let the trucjpk push it away from you as you travel. Hope that the batter and alternator were the only issues. Happy Trails!

Great video, I think I might have gone through water close to that depth, but I went way slower. I also have a stock bumper, I wonder if it clears the water a bit better, sorry your truck is broke dude, fix it fast!

The exact same thing happened to my alternator. Luckily it was replaced for free by the Ford dealer. I just told them. I don't know why it messed up.

Only thing I dont like about the Ranger is the alternator location. Im really hoping since the Bronco comes with the 2.3L that someone comes out with a sealed alternator for them.
@downsouthexpeditions29563 жыл бұрын
Same here! It’s way to low. I’m going to try and contacts some companies about developing a guard or some way to protect it from direct splashes.
@jeremyforresttalley1453 жыл бұрын
@@downsouthexpeditions2956 yeah I would be buying one if it helped. Crazy that they didnt figure out a way to relocate it. Is what it is at this point. I know people on the fourm are carring spare alternators in there recovery kits now lol.

And that’s why I’m going to sell my ranger at the first of the year. I will be getting H a Jeep gladiator or Jeep unlimited
@jeremyforresttalley1453 жыл бұрын
@@johnburnett1974 I can kinda understand that but I love the Rangers. This is my second Ranger. I had a 2wd 19 and sold it and bought a 21 Tremor. I dont go looking for mud or deep water anyway. Mostly forest service roads and some offroad parks which will have bypasses on most anything like that so it doesnt concearn me to much. Im sure a solution will come along at some point.

Ouch. Let me know if you find a sealed/water-cooled alternator that fits the 2019+ rangers...otherwise, I don't think I will be attempting any high water in mine. Disappointing. Googling around, this seems to be a common issue.
@downsouthexpeditions29563 жыл бұрын
It does suck that it is a common issue. But I’m definitely going to try and find a company that might can develop some type of guard or something to protect it from at least big splashes

Big reason I do not like Toyotas or Japanese trucks period … they’re underpowered. I guess this guy has somewhat fixed that with the LS swap. Anyhow; always going to prefer Jeep, Ford, Ram, & GMC. 👍🏻🇺🇸
