After years of practice as Mercedes lot attendant I developed a good way. I prefer alcohol but can make any glass cleaner work. Standard microfibers work for me don't need glass specific towels but they are nice. I use a magic eraser and 2 towels, the initial and the buff. Go around and do alcohol 2 to 3 times without checking or buffing for streaks. Immediately buff it after that 2nd or 3rd time and the only missed spots I'd ever find were around the edges and easy to buff over once again. This helped me to not get in and out of the car to check as many times

My current process I got from one of your product videos. ManettsMegaShine Glass cleaner. Insanely easy to use, and leaves protection behind. I use TRC or Microfiber Madness waffle weaves. Towels to me are totally worth to go for the top of the line/expensive products. Makes my job easier while keeping me un-frustrated and makes any job go much smoother when the person isn't getting frustrated.

Thanks mate I had my first OFFICIAL detail yesterday it was a 36°c (Australia) I think I actually made the windscreen worse, I explained to the customer that it's way too hot to be using chemicals on the glass I did the best I could. It's been playing on me bad that the rest of the car was immaculate but the first thing you look at when you drive is obviously the windscreen so I decided to do some research. Alot of videos had 10 different steps but the aircon idea is simple yet brilliant. That has litterally changed how I look at windscreens from now on. I never comment on anything I just like and skip on but the dreaded windscreen is my biggest fear of detailing. Thanks as I said simple but brilliant

Back windscreens are always a PITA! I use the Stoners handle tool, but my partner made many triangle bonnets out of my window cloths so that I am always using good cloths. I use the A/C as well in winter to help evaporate the window cleaner away.

Great stuff as always Phil. I typically use the method I learned from Larry Kosilla at AMMO NYC. Put one knee in the passenger seat, lean over the center console area and support myself with my left hand in the driver seat while using my right arm to clean the entire windshield. It typically allows unrestricted access without the steering wheel getting in the way, depending on the vehicle. It’s probably a little more cumbersome than your method, especially if your arms don’t reach all the way to where the dash meets the glass, but seems to work for me. I enjoy your videos sir, as a professional detailer myself I appreciate not only how hard the job is but how hard it would be (for me) to constantly be having to move cameras around as well, thank you for sharing!

Phil, For glass cleaning, outside glass, as a maintenance wash, I use ONR first, then use Rain X Waterless wash. It will put a layer of protection without leaving a film on windshield. It's also great to improve the speed of slow windows when opening or closing. For interior glass, I use Stoner's Invisible Glass with two towels. I spray onto microfiber towel, wipe clean & other towel to dry. For DEEP cleaning exterior glass, I will polish glass with an auto polish when I am polishing the car. Then clean with an IPA mix. The apply Rain X Waterless Wash & or Rain X. For tough marks on glass, interior or exterior, I may use a magic eraser first? For non professionals, like me, you can pick up inexpensive microfiber towels from Costco, better than Walmart or some auto stores?

Right, there are lots of methods to clean windshields. I have ozone water filter which is almost like distilled water and use it with a towel to remove the grime from inside or outside. Also, use 50/50 water/alcohol or Stoner's or any window cleaner without ammonia. Hope you get your internet connection soon. Say hi to your dad Sam and wifey from me. Hope we can see wifey on more videos giving tips also from a female or partner in business perspective since there are more couples like D1 and female detailers like Attention to Details /Chelsea who are either getting starting or are professionals like yours too. Xoxo from Puerto Rico 👍🇵🇷

Magic eraser with some apc works great for inside of windshield to cut through greasy hazy grime. I found super Clean leaves too much of a residue. then follow up with quality glass cleaner.

When you say start with a damp towel are you setting it and adding glass cleaner to it as well?

You can add a little glass cleaner to it. But usually it’s just water dampened.

Great tips. Do you ever polish glass with a DA machine? If so what technique and chemicals do you use?
@MirandaDetailing4 жыл бұрын
Thanks....I do polish glass with a da sometimes, but not really remove hazing or wiper scratches. I do it really deep clean the glass before i protect it.

I have a question that I'm hoping someone can give some insight on. I use a two towel method and typically a 50/50 mix of IPA, first pass with a "glass towel" and second with a microfiber for the final buffing. I am finding no matter how new the microfiber towel is that I am buffing with, in certain cases it will leave large amounts of lint behind. In other cases it will not. The constant seems to be that the glass feels like it is "catching" on the towel when it will leave lint and easily glides across it when it doesn't leave lint. Could this be that the glass isn't fully cleaned or something with static? Thoughts?
@MirandaDetailing3 жыл бұрын
I have found that to be the case also with certain glass. I’m not sure completely but I believe it has to do with the glass manufacturers. Because it’s so inconsistent...it’s not the towel or cleaner or if it’s clean or not. I believe there are different grades of glass that are made slightly different. OR....I also think that when windshields especially are installed they are stored in building or trucks that may be exposed to certain things like overspray from,,,who knows where. That could happen also and leave particles on the glass that catch lint when cleaning. But all of these are simply educated guesses. Maybe someone will come in with a better answer.
@Red__Hot3 жыл бұрын
@@MirandaDetailing hmmm... I could definitely see either of those possibilities being the case. I might try to take note of what the year, make and models of the cars I have this issue with. Maybe there is a trend there with certain manufacturers or years of production. What’s your solution to this?
@MirandaDetailing3 жыл бұрын
Is ally we will try all sorts of towels until one works. We have found the super thin nap glass towels as a final wipe will help pick up any remaining lint.

Oh I see. Perhaps it was lost in translation. Either way I guess. But I tackle each side of the windshield which is roughly 2x2 or 3x3 foot area.
