Windsor Castle, Borough Market, Spitalfields Market, Christmas and Thanksgiving

Hi Friends!
In installment 2 of our London Adventure we go see our Friends Tim and James to explore Windsor Castle. Then we go to Saint Martin in the Fields Church to see a Bach concerto concert that was amazing, but unfilmable :-(. We spent the better pat of Wednesday at Borough Market, so prepare for hunger, and we went over to Covent Garden to look at some tea and a little shop we love that has beautiful Christmas decor. Thursday we went to Spitalfields Market with Constance and then managed to grab a Turkey dinner at a pub for a delicious and laid back Thanksgiving!

Man, those shots of Windsor brought me back to the mid-90s when we went. Hubs has a thing for stained glass. I was in a pub while he was out taking photos. He comes back and says there was a GREAT place, but it was locked. He had tried to break in, because...well, who locks up a church?? Even if it is on school grounds. I asked what it was, he said, "A-tone College or something like that." I asked if he meant Eton College where the princes go to school??? "Oh, maybe," he said. Darn lucky he wasn't arrested. Then he discovered hard cider. Didn't believe me that it is stronger than beer. THEN he lost his wallet. It was quite the day. :D But I LOVE Windsor, such a cool town.

The markets look amazing - so so so much better than the little cottage markets we have in my small town once a month (if they’re not flooded out that is). Thank you for showing Windsor too - the only time I’ve ever really seen it is when they show it on the tv for the weddings. I so want to travel to England one day 🥰

OMG Thanks so much for this vlog. i have just been home. I am from Reading, not far from Windsor or London come to that and l am the tea room lady in Battle Ground WA who commented on your Portland visit. i am now extremely homesick for chips in dripping, English cheese and a good pint in the pub. i have not had Christmas in England since 1988 and i do miss the lights and traditions and of course the food. i love the costuming and sewing tips and tales, but this was awesome.

Brussels sprouts are amazing, just chop them and fry them in salty butter (...but then most things are good fried in salty butter!).

Or fry lardons of bacon, when crispy add in the thinly sliced Brussels with chopped walnuts, delicious and a meal in its self. Boiled Brussels sprouts are pathetic, but also there hasn’t been a frost yet, Brussels get sweeter after there have been subjected to some hard frosts.

I was just right there in October, and it was just as rainy! And when I was there QE was in residence. 😉. It’s an awesome place. We stayed in Covenant Garden, and Petersham Nursery was a beloved shopping stop. My Christmas tree this year was shipped from there 🎄.

My favourite tea place in London is the Tea House in Covent Garden (every time I go , I get a new miniature teapot) - but I didn't know about Mariage Freres. I'll have to visit there,

With your love for the Christmas markets and mulled wine, maybe you should look into visit a German city next year. I know Hamburg, Lübeck and Berlin have Christmas markets, but probably most cities have one. My city of Malmö also have a small market + all kinds of street lighting, but nothing compared to the German cities

Today (Thanksgiving in California) my cousin told me that when we were little girls, she thought I was English. LOL! I'm from California. It made my day. Cheerio Ole Chap Tower of London! ...Then I got to see your great video, so thanks so much. So cozy and cool. I like the whole looks made up, but is real aspect of London. This is going to sound weird coming from a Brit, but I had no idea Windsor Castle was that big? I suppose it's always the way, you spend more time thinking about and going to places far away than the ones nearby (relatively speaking, it's still 200 miles away for me). As for your pronunciation of English things, you're pretty on point most of the time, though I do wince every time you say Cheshire when referring to your Cheshire Cat dress. For counties that end 'shire' it's said 'shuh', like saying 'shut' with out the t. It's an easy thing to get wrong, generally the older the name the dafter the pronunciation is! Btw I adore the shirt you're wearing at the end, where did you acquire such a masterpiece?

The flag is only called the Union Jack when it’s flown at sea. Otherwise it’s the Union Flag. When I lived in London and had to work on Thanksgiving, I would head down to Pret A Manger and get their Christmas lunch sandwich. I worked in the City, and there would always be a run on those sandwiches that day from the big American ex-pat community there that day! So I would be sure to get mine first thing in the morning, and warn the staff that there would be a bigger demand for that sandwich that day. 🦃

I am a new subscriber. Don't know if it is better to ask here or on IG. Do you know how one would go about finding Regency patterns for plus-sized girls? Patterns normally cover all sizes,so you measure yourself, read the instructions and cut the pattern to match your size. Some companies print 2 versions of the same pattern for smaller or larger size requirements.
