Urban Fishing in Parramatta. Would You Eat these Fish???

My name is Aaron Horne and i am the owner of Windsor Bait And Tackle.
I have fished throughout NSW and much of Australia and have spent twenty plus years documenting my travels through urban Sydney chasing Australian Bass and Bream.

An awesome bycatch today catching that Estuary Perch.
The best tip I can give you is to stay away from the dodgy side of the river.
Acces on one side is safe with all forms of outdoor recreational users and the other side of the Parramatta river is extremely sketchy.

Mmm, yep i lived near the river at Silverwater. When you see how much crap was put into duck creek over the years you would not eat anything in there!

I used to fish under them 2 bridges on the southern side. I knew the homeless blokes who were down there 9-10 yrs ago and used to camp out with them quite often. there used to be quite a good camp setup on the southern side of the JR bridge(Steve's bridge) and there is a steel cage lockup compound under the rail/gas bridge further down on (opposite where you got them whiting) that we had a camp in there with our own padlock. If you go to the eastern platform of Camilia railway station and head north,(just walk straight off the end of the platform and keep going, you can get down there. At least you could years ago. There is a historic grave down there so you could say you're going to see that if challenged by any rail employees. I've caught and lost some thumping fish down there. No way in hell would I eat them. I know the industrial history of that part of the river, right up to Ermington and beyond and it's not good.Have subbed and will binge watch the channel. Who knows, maybe one day we'll chuck a line in together. Cheers mate.

Solid EP there at the end! Best of both worlds, bream fishing and bassing. Nice whiting. They are so much fun. Some nice flatties also. n response to the question - I don't think eating fish from the upper Parramatta would be too bad, but would not eat anything that came from below Silverwater bridge, I also lose alot of fish trying to turn the bloody camera on, lol.

Next time you area in the are there is a creek( the ponds ) that runs from Dundas through Telopea and into the river between James Ruse drive and Silverwater rd , possibly the canal you fished down on south street in another video that may be worth an explore . I think you can access parts of it via upjohn park . I grew up there and we used to fish the upper reaches for eels but that was 30 plus years ago so I don’t know what it is like now , there is also a small dam near telopea access via tintern ave but in there was mostly carp and eels and it is in behind oatlands golf course . There is another bridge further up from James Ruse drive ( gasworks bridge ) on macarthur st , southern side has access for a reasonable distance as it is parklands . There is another creek that splits off the river just west if Silverwater road on the south side , never fished it but i know there are mullet in there and the ends of egerton and derby st will get you near it .

If your interested strike pro blades work well . TTs work well too but make sure you change the hooks as they are rubbish and very blunt. Ive told TT about the hooks but they are Queenslanders and just dont care. Unfotunately it makes them a bit dearer when you have to change the hooks.

No way..some of the sewage directly run off to Parramatta river when the pump is out in units.. I wouldn't eat it..
