An offer for crew duties in exchange for windsurfing lessons is a great deal. Downhaul the sail until the leech is slightly loose upper batten. Outhaul for a nice pocket in the sail. Tension the battens. A proper rigged sail will uphaul with more ease. Great story so far.

With the sailboard, pull the outhaul on tighter so the sail is flat, put the boom a little higher on the mast, this will give you better leverage in a stronger breeze. Tie the loose end of the uphaul rope to the bottom of the mast. A light wind and a flat sea are really good for learning. Enjoy.

Hi Guys, Great video :) Excellent knot Tasha! I think it is fair to say, that making ground upwind without a centerboard is hard work. Point too high and you tend to go sideways. I tend to aim for 80 degrees to the true wind, which gives me enough boat speed to get the fins working, and then I can make some ground in the gusts, and then bare off just enough a in the lulls to hold my ground. Also i find when i am teaching that SUP helps with balance for sailboarding and vice versa.

on the windsurfing, the uphaul gets looped over the end of the mast so you have more controlled leverage while pulling the sail up. sail forward turns away from the wind , sail back turns into the wind. Start in the T position.

I've studied the knot closely and have come to two conclusions. A.) If the boat stayed tied to the dock, then I don't what type of knot it is! B.) If the boat didn't stay tied to the dock, the it's a Houdini knot. Hope this helps. Love all the video's. Thanks for making and posting them.

The loop in the uphaul goes around the base of the mast. Keep your butt in. Hand nearest the mast holds the weight. Other hand pulls in or out and controls the speed. Uphaul with mast position between legs then move forward leg behind mast base. Push the board with your legs to change direction.

HI Cheekey Monkeys👍. Great video again. On the dinghy knot issue have you not considered putting one of these on the dinghy line www.s3i.co.uk/Wichard-Carbine-Hook-60mm-Asymmetric.html - or something similar you can get locally. Super convenient when at anchor and making trips back and forth, secure to bathing ladder or a stanchion, and when jetty side to a mooring ring or similar. On the windsurfing side - you just have to resign yourself to falling off for the first day or two, but also consider where the centre of pressure (cop) is in relation to the board ( and where the wind is coming from of course) if you tilt the rig forward then the cop moves forward and the bow will turn, as you rake the mast aft the cop moves back and the bow will turn in the opposite direction AND as you trim the rake to a position of balance where the board tracks true the the cop is bang over the keel. If you want more windsurfing or engineering help you need to invite me😳😀⛵️🍷🍻

That black bungee line is the Uphaul and you had the bottom loose. Before you attach the mast to the universal on the board, pass the mast base through the loop. Windsurfing is not easy to learn, and it will take years to get proficient. Windsurfers don't go upwind well. Basically you beam reach back and forth. When the wind is stronger you will need to learn to use a harness so your body weight can hold the sail. It's much less work to sail in higher winds than slog and you have to hold up the sail. Once you are planing in the South Pacific in clear blue water it will be amazing. $600!! it's not rocket science!
@TonyMcPhail8 жыл бұрын
First rule of wind surfing, no matter what direction the wind is, you are always better sailing away from the land and no good sail back.
