Thanks for the deep dive walk through. It's nice to see gear live and not just manufacturer's photos/vids. And nice to hear how it feels on the water. Dog approved! 🤙

Thanks Paul for the review, i sail mostly s1in the best dutch waveconditions. also the few blades for the onshore days... i would like a sailcleaning dog too. i have the sails for two years now. i like the durability. 2 times damage but that was because of driver error. one knee through the bottom panel and one mastbreak wash and rippid up mastsleeve. hope to visit the westcoast of england in 2023! Thanks for posting this video. Have you used the Blade in bump and jump conditions? Does the sail have any forward profile when it is powered up? Does it have "controllable" momentum (meaning the power delivery to the board smooth or sudden)? I remember sailing with an Ezzy wave sail long ago. The sail rigged like a door on the beach, and it was still like a door (maybe a slight profile) when powered up on the water. It was the most gutless sail that I have ever owned: no power in lulls, no pumping capability! I sold it within the same month. I personally like Gator. Any similarity of Blade to Gator? Thanks again.

Hey - yeah I’ve used the 5.7 blade in mainly bump and jump conditions and a few times in proper waves. I would say it excels on bump and jump. It’s mega tuneable in terms of power. Slightly more directional r than the S1 as it’s a 5 batten sail and the S1 is 4. This gives a more locked in feeling than the Sq1 but still not the feeling of a free-ride or free race sail. The blade is a wave sail jus slightly more directional. A

Nice walk through, the combination of the severne masts, carbon boom is a winner, they do have a very nice light feel to them. I'm on my second season with the same Severne sails, they do wear well if you look after them. I have a standard Blade, two Blade Pro's, a Gator, and two NCX, I am hoping to get another year out of them at least. The Slalom carbon booms are heavier and still have a great feel, but my fav combo is the wave carbon boom and the blade Pro's....

Nice one Kev. Comments appreciated. I’m really impressed with the sails and only early days.

Great video of the two sails. I’m in same situation: switching from NP to Severne because we don’t have a NP distributor here in NZ. I’m currently waiting for the Gator 5.5 but thinking maybe go for the Bade 5.5 - still in between at the moment. I will use this size most for bump&jump in flatwater. Have you tried the Gator?

Hey Steffen. Thanks for your comments and feedback. Glad you’re liking the content. I had heard delivery to NZ and Australia was really delayed which is frustrating. I was lucky - all my new gear arrived 1st week in April. All my sails are wave sails so haven’t tried the Gator. I have friends who have NCX’s and they love them so imagine the gator is very similar. I’ve been so impressed with my Blade and my S1’s since getting them. I’ve got matching masts , enigma boom and a cyclops too and am amazed at the difference having the Severne components makes. I think you’d like the Blade. Great for bump and jump and waves too. 🤙💥

Hi great explanation of the sail. What wind speed are you using these sails in, Tia

Thanks. I’ve used the Blade 5.7 in anything from 15 knots float and ride to around 20 knots and a bit more. I’ve used the 5.2 once in around 25 knots. I’ve used the 4.0 in circa 35 knots. I bought: 5.7 blade. 5.2/ 4.8/ 4.4 / 4.0 S1

I can’t understand why didn’t you buy opposite: the biggest sail S-1 and all smaller Blade. That would make more sense, because Blade has more control and S-1 has more power... I did exactly that way: S-1 5,6m (still 400cm mast) and Blade 5.0, 4.5, 4.0 and 3.0.

Why the switch from NP to severne?
@boomwindsurfing27442 жыл бұрын
Good question. I’ve been loyal to the NP brand for many years, not sponsored, buying my own gear. NP sails are great and I loved all my 2020/ 21 combats. Essentially i became dissolutioned with the brand, where they’re going and their place in windsurfing for the average sailor today. I wanted to buy gear from a brand I felt represented modern windsurfing but that also made quality gear that was proven to work. I decided to go with Severne and have boards, sails, masts, a boom and components from them that I will change on 2 year cycles going forward. So far I am loving the gear and the company. Severne are switched on as to what we’re doing with BooM and are going to provide us demo boards for people to test. BooM is independent. We exist for windsurfers by windsurfers but it’s great to work with and feel supported by major brands as surely we all want the same outcome - to grow windsurfing and make the sport great again. We hope to get demo kit to review from other manufacturers too and to get other people to test the kit which we can film and play out on KZbin.

@@boomwindsurfing2744 “where they are going and their place in windsurfing for the average sailor” - does that mean you feel they are too expensive now?
@boomwindsurfing27442 жыл бұрын
@@brad2064 - premium brand equipoise all about the same cost. Severne, Neil Pryde, Duotone and now North Sails - all similar in cost. For me I feel Neil Pryde have lost their way and that’s a shame. Look at what North are doing - that’s exciting and inspiring. Severne the same.
