Nice insights into the character of the gear. This is one of those videos I will bookmark for when I’m choosing new secondhand equipment in 5£-10 years time 😁

The Freeks are great for foiling and if the wind suddenly picks up you can just switch the rig over to a fin board until it dies back again. I've got a 5.6 m2 Freek which i use in about 16-18 mph and a 4.8 m2 Freek which i use in about 18-22 mph foiling. For ideal power for foil gybes learning i think you need enough wind to be able to take off with only a little bit of pumping. If you don't need to pump at all then that is too big a sail size. If you have to pump like mad then it will be really tricky to complete the gybe up on the foil (probably flop at the rig flip). If you don't have enough wind to take flight then Freeks are really good light wind freestyle with board on water eg up wind 360s, switch stance heli tack, pile drivers, duck tack. I wanted to get a 6.3 Freek but they didn't make a 2024 version so i got a 6.4 Duotone F pace and actually you can do duck tacks nearly as good with it as with Freeks but watch out the batten below the boom doesn't hit you in the face as it sticks out a bit.

Yeah sure, foiling with a 4m with 8kt, that's ok. But Take off with 8kt, then you need to be Baltz... not that I am not foiling with the smallest wave sail I can, but definitly every rider achievement.

Yes taking off is definitely difficult & something you can work on with the right pumping technique . Also there is quite a big difference in this part between the Foil Freek & the normal Freek for example with better low end on the Foil Freek due to the 4 battens vs 5 & the more tight leach with a Wave sail it will be even more. Further on the foil the Front wing size makes a big difference & rake of the back wing so many factors to come together. For general riders I would say to get on the foil you need gusts of min 10 - 12 knots and a 4.8 rather than a 4.4 . It is a one shot video, with a few beers in but I do believe with a 3 sail quiver you can sail from 10 - 35 knots (maybe 40 is pretty uncomfortable)
