It doesn't look the best in leaf, but as you say, it will be fun seeing this one develop over the next few years. I think it will start looking good winter at the end of 2024

That tree has great potential! I knew a guy who cut his hand while working in his garden, and instead of going inside to clean the wound, he ran to his compost pile and let the blood drip into the compost. You remind me of him.

Great work with this Hawthorne Tony! I'm not to sure how effective your mid winter feed is going to be looks a little high in iron, but we will see in the spring🤣🤣🤣.The little branch at the top could make a pretty neat deadwood feature a few years down the road.

I've got a feeling that this tree will respond really well to the feed mate. Interesting idea bout the deadwood. I think the tree will dictate what happens in the future, but that could look really cool.

Tony don't forget the stronger the wind blows the branches tend to be set at a higher angle to the ground. (About 45 degrees above horizontal) The less the wind blows they will be more horizontal. Make sure the branches are all at the same angle and quite straight. Keep up the good work

Thanks Joe. Yeah I would say this is one of my trees which could well be a decent example in the future. As for my hand, I'm a bit of a drama queen really. It was only a scratch. Just the tree telling me not to cut off any more branches

I've heard sacrificing a virgin to the bonsai gods along with the blood sacrifice really gets your tree growing Tony. I had a feeling we would see blood in your video's one day Tony with all the chainsaws, grinders and flame throwers you have frightened us with... how did you cut it?

Not too many virgins around these parts mate 🤣🤣 I think there was some sort of sharp stub on the trunk which must have pricked my hand a couple of times, and because of the cold I didn't feel anything it was only when I saw the blood that I realised. It was nothing that's why I made light of it.

Yeah, they are stainless and seem very strong, so they should last for many years. As for the fertilizer, I think in future I'll stick to dried seaweed!
